taking a detour in life

Published

hi there fellow nurses!

after googling all sorts of questions, i came across allnurses.com -- what a wonderful, awesome site this is! kudos to the ones whose wise idea this was ...

anyways ... im taking a detour in life ... have a BA in totally nothing healthcare related ... and now, going to a local JC and taking my pre reqs .. gawd i hate anatomy and physio .. have yet to take chem and microbio ...

several questions all in one ... im in the greater LA area btw so all my questions will pertain to that...

1)

and i know ratemyprofessors.com is out there ... but if you've taken classes at any of the LA JCs, who do you suggest in taking microbio, chem, and anatomy ... i just dropped my anatomy because it was so hard... i know i have to do it tho. i need an instructor who isn't all over the place, very organized, structured, and semi easy...

2)

i know ihave an option of going to the AA route or the BSN route or maybe the MECN route ... question is.. ive been hearing lots of hospitals are gearing towards the BSN folks now... does it really make a difference? or can you still get in with the AA, and if so, which hospitals is that? if you know.

3)

science has never been my fave subjects growing up and im suffering ... not that i want a C or nothing and i know most schools say that you need a minimum of a C to get into their program, and even when im aiming for an A, i feel like it's not possible ... can you still get into a nursing school with a C average? shoot. im just not a test taker and most of the classes are purely based on exams... UGH!

4)

is the NCLEX really really hard? again, remember, im not a test taker ... lol

5)

or how about the TEAS test... what the heck? i have numerous friends who are nurses but they didn't have to take it .. =( i wish if you had a BA in some sort, it was easy.. ugh..

ok... well, that's about it ... thank you guys!
