Taking classes at my old college for GPA

Published

I am currently taking prerequisites for the nursing program at my current university. They calculate cumulative GPA from every college.

I am wondering if it's okay to take a few online classes at my old college in hopes of raising my overall GPA. Is this possible or is it crazy? Please let me know.

As long as you can afford it and can get As you can take courses wherever you want.

It really depends on how many credits you have at that college. A few? Sure, then taking more classes will make a bigger difference. The more credits you already have the less new credits will change your overall GPA.

Yes, do it! Make the classes relevant though. Even if it doesn't move your GPA a huge amount you will have the additional advantage of being able to say, during your interview, "I wanted to demonstrate my growth as a student by taking a couple more relevant classes and achieving great grades." I think it will give you a little bump in the motivation category :-)

It will help your gpa more if you retake the classes that you did bad in. Then the school will use the new grade in the gpa calculations.
