I know there are a million questions about Excelsior here, but I need help. I noticed that the NC 1-7 have been changed to new names and there are 8 classes now. My question is can you still take the first two classes without enrolling and can I take my GE classes before I enroll into the nursing program. Also, if this is possible what do I do to register for these classes. I hope someone can help me. Thank you so much for your time.

You will find the info to take the first two tests at their website. If you are an LPN/LVN, you are most likely exempt from the second test anyway. You will send in a copy of your LPN license with your application. As for the other classes, general ed, you can take them anywhere at any time you choose. Most people just transfer to Excelsior the courses that they take at their local community colleges. Or, if you want, you can take CLEP or DANTES tests instead of traditional or online courses to fulfill these requirements. All the info you need can be found on the EC website or you can look or ask here, or you can call EC and speak to an advisor. Good luck.
BTW, it is advised to take as many of the general ed classes as possible before the nursing tests to save time and money. For each year, past the first year of enrollment, you will have to pay an administrative fee to remain enrolled (around $450). This can add up. Be sure when you check out the website, that you look for their new deal on finishing early. If you get all your general ed classes done first and whiz through the nursing tests within one year, you can get a substantial break on the overall fees. Quite a deal.

Yes, and yes. Register for your account on the excelsior.edu website and go from there. Also, it's a good idea to download/read all the information on the ADN program so you'll know just what you're getting yourself into. And I urge you to read this, too: https://www.excelsior.edu/Excelsior_College/School_Of_Nursing/Accreditation_and_Licensure/State_Board_Requirements
Welcome to Allnurses! :)
