I am currently enrolled in Gen Chem and I'm failing at a 58% after our first exam. I don't feel confident for my next exam. Even with studying and doing hw, I feel like it's the way my professor teaches. I sit in lab and lecture listening but I am totally lost almost at all times.
Should I take a W and try again next sem with a better prof that accommodates to my learning style, or tough it out and try harder to maybe pass the class with a C. Also, if we don't score at least a 50% it's an auto fail for the class.
I planned to take A&P 1 next sem but I have to have Gen Chem done or take is as a coreq. Would it be possible to take both classes next semester if I had a better Chem professor?
Pls share if you've had similar experiences. What did you decide to do and did it work out? Thank you!

Take the W. Study on your own between now and starting over with a new instructor.

Take the W. I would audit or sit in on the other professors a class or two to see who you specifically like and understand. Otherwise, next semester will be a crapshoot too.
My chemistry professor was the ENTIRE reason that I fell in love with chemistry and walked away with an A+ both semesters. It was all her doing. I even took Organic Chemistry with her, just because she made me love chemistry so much, even though it wasn't a nursing prerequisite. She made me consider going into Pharmacy I loved it so much! A good professor makes all the difference.
But don't put it to chance...sit in on all the professors and see first hand!
Best Wishes

Take the W. I struggled hard with my instructor and got my first ever B. He was absolutely terrible and because of the class, I hate chemistry.
