Take "Patient Companion" job as means to get foot in the door ?

I know that this is all going to vary from company to company, and it's different between all hospitals..... For the last few months I have been applying throughout several hospitals for patient care tech positions. I am a recent graduate of paramedic school, and am also certified nationally and at the state level.

I have an interview in less then a week from now for the "patient companion" which sounds like a sitter position, basically. I'd much rather be a tech, but, at this point I'd do anything to get into the hospital, even volunteer, or work something I totally didn't get into the field for, like janitorial (Not that there's anything wrong with that, everybody is equally important, not knocking anything) From anybodies experience, would going after this position help me advance throughout that hospital ?

Any experience is good experience in my opinion. I don't care if you got hired to work at a dog show, you work that into your resume and sell yourself.

I got my job as an ER Tech by working as a sitter for several months. I barely qualify to be an ER Tech, and I know that there are better qualified individuals that could have chosen. Even though I really didn't like being a sitter, I stuck with it because I knew it would help me get a better job within the hospital, and it did.
