hi everyone,

this is the first time for me to post message and my question is:

which school is best to take pre-req courses for RN/MSN at southern bay area near stanford? the courses for me are basic Introduction to Statistics course , basic Human Anatomy course , and basic Human Physiology course.

if anyone have such experience, please answer my question. your information is very very important for me, because i have no idea where to take these prereq courses for my next year's application.

thanks all,

spdn

Probably any community college in the area: De Anza, San Jose City, Evergreen, Foothill, Canada, Ohlone, there's lots depending on how far you are willing to drive. Personally I would go to a cc that has a nursing program, since the classes are geared for nursing students (De Anza or Evergreen).

For basic Anatomy/Physiology, take it at Foothill Jr college with professor Lopez (very very good teacher) if you can. The problem is that it is almost impossible to get into her class unless you have lots of units already.

Most Jr colleges actually have the same problems - can't get in unless you have lots of units already. If you are desperate, some counselors recommend students to take it all the way down at Gilroy (it is not impacted).

As for statistics, you can take it online through Foothill also, but I don't know why good the teacher is.

Go to http://www.ratemyprofessor.com and see which professors are the best. So far, I have good luck with this site as I got very good good professors as a result of looking at the site.

Jr colleges near Stanford, Foothill is the closest one. Then De Anza (maybe Canada is closer?).

State colleges near Stanford will be San Jose State. The other closest one is Hayward state.

I go to Evergreen/San Jose City (they are sister colleges in San Jose) and I can tell you that ALL the Anatomy and Physiology classes for spring filled up within 2 days of registration for continuing students, that means that new students do not have ANY chance to get in. Like the other poster mentioned Gavilan in Gilroy might be good or Ohlone in Fremont. Good luck.

thanks so much for your reply!

I took my A and P at West Valley in Saratoga. They offer it in semester form, which means, unlike De Anza which offers in 3 sep. classes, you won't risk not getting into the next section. I love West Valley. I took pre reqs at Mission, Wst. Valley, De Anza and San Jose State. If you wait until summer, you can take Statistics at State in 4 weeks, it was very easy! And I am terrible at Math. Good luck.

as one of the above posters said, it is almost impossible to get into nursing prereq classes unless you have priority registration...it also difficult to add because there will be like 20 people trying to fill in 2 slots!!! i currently attend ohlone...but in the palo alto area your best bet would be deanza or foothill...a plus about these schools are that they are on a quarter system. Good Luck!
