I am making a topic on this since I have not seen anything recent for Tacoma Community College located in Tacoma WA. Hoping to see if anyone will be applying for the Fall quarter as well!

Hi there,

I'm also hoping to apply this June. Kind of nervous about the lottery system, heard mixed reviews. I finish the rest of my prereqs in May so the timeline is pretty tight...

What have you heard ? I spoke to one of the advisors and it looks like they changed their system a lot. I'm not sure if it is still lottery.

Thanks for engaging in the AllNurses Community and making a thread for this! It appears the application opens from Jun 1 to July 1.

Some notable changes in the application process included:

Notable changes include:

  • The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) exam is no longer required for admission to the traditional RN and LPN to RN programs.
  • The CNA (NAC) certified nursing assistant credential is no longer mandatory for admission to the traditional RN program.
  • LPNs are still required to have an unencumbered LPN license for the LPN to RN program application.
  • Applicants with specific healthcare experience and/or credentials (such as CNA/NAC, MA, EMT, RT, etc.) may receive additional points in the new scoring system, but the CNA/NAC credential is no longer mandatory.
  • Retakes or repeats for any prerequisite course will no longer carry a penalty in the new scoring system.
  • There is no time limit on the age of prerequisite courses.

I applied to Tacoma Community College's Nursing program on June 30th.  Has anyone else applied and have you heard back yet?  The new scoring system out of 14 points, gave me only 9.  I hope that will be enough to qualify for their program.

I just applied June 1 when applications open up! Has anyone heard that has applied? They changed their system, and you don't have to take the TEA's, they relaxed some grade requirements as well.

July 16 2024:  Have not heard anything yet. The suspense is a bit overwhelming.

Same, it's torture. I also applied to the radiology program as back up- I heard back from them at TCC, not yet from nursing. Trying not to get my hopes up as this program I'm sure is very competitive just like radiology 😭

So you got into the Radiology program?   If that's the case, excellent!!

According to an advisor they received more than 400 applications and do not plan on releasing the candidate information mid or late August.  As a reminder, the Winter application for the nursing program starts August 1st through Sept 1st.
