Tacoma Community College Nursing Program

U.S.A. Washington

Hi... I was just accepted into the TCC Nursing Program. Does anyone out there have any advice or information to offer? I'd appreciate hearing about the program, instructors, clinicals, etc. Thanks! Oh, one more thing... if you are aware of any specific information that would be beneficial to review prior to starting, please let me know.

south Puget sound community college,

great college... great location... great nursing program... 2 admission cycles per year.. they have a formula for admission primarily based on grades... i recommend them.

Free advice to all of you who have been lucky enough to win the lottery.

- Make friends of your classmates. These people will become *very* important to you in the coming quarters.

- Study Groups! 'Nuff said.

- When you get to clinicals, *shine*. Make the staff there *love* you. Especially in 6th quarter. This is your *best* shot at getting a job.

- Treat your instructors WELL. They are awesome people, and really do want to help you succeed. They ain't doing it for the pay, lol, so its all for you!

- There will be a lot, no, I mean a *lot* of group projects. Do *not* let your team down. Ever!

- Plan for very, very little free time. Especially if you work. By the time you are done with the program and get your first job, the pay won't be the most important thing to you; the days off with no homework will be ;)

In fact, once you graduate you will have no idea what to do with free time - that term will have completely left your vocabulary.

If you have any questions, shoot them my way.

Oh, and BTW, TCC has a GREAT reputation in the south sound. So work your orifices off and don't spoil it ;)

Hi everyone!!!

I've read this entire thread, and it's been really helpful! I was wondering if anyone knows, since they have changed their admissions to a lottery system, what the average GPA admitted into the lottery pool is? I'm finishing up my pre-requisites this year, and applying next fall, so it would be really helpful information!! :yeah:

At least above a 3.0... I personally had a 3.9, but my class mates (first lottery admitted students) had a gpa from 3.0 to 4.0. Im not exactly sure on the average, and since it's a lottery, i dont know if the admin really knows unless they go back and add them (and divide them) one by one....

Thank you so much! That was really helpful to know! I have a 3.67, (thanks to my B in psychology) so I'm hoping to raise it when I take the rest of my pre-requisites. Do they put you on a waitlist for winter if you don't get into fall quarter or do you have to reapply? Did you get in the first time you applied, or did you have to reapply? Just looking at the odds of getting in the first time! :)

You have to re-apply each time (no waitlist)... which kinda sucks. They admit the first 24 on this list, but if a person doesn't accept the offer, or doesn't reply in the allotted response time, they will go up the list (#25, #26, etc until they fill 24 spots). Fortunately I applied once and got picked. I think this was due to only have 70 or so applicants in the very first lottery. Each admittance since the first lottery has increased the amount of applicants, however, so Im not sure the odds each time. Are you going to apply for winter??

Im applying to the fall of '12 class.. so I still have a little ways to go. I saw on their lottery website they had 300 numbers in the pool of applicants, whoa! That's great you were able to get in on your first try, I'm convincing myself to take it with ease if I don't get in the first time :uhoh3::uhoh3:

Hello everybody! I was wondering if anybody else won in the nursing lottery and got accepted for Spring quarter? I'm super excited but also very nervous about what is to come. :-)
