Tacoma Community College Fall 2020 ADN

Nursing Students School Programs

Anyone here applied/applying to TCC's Fall 2020 ADN program? I'm last minute scrambling to apply after getting waitlisted at Olympic College. (Loooong story, I actually got accepted but I somehow glossed over my acceptance email because I was expecting a letter sent via USPS still per their website. Not much I can do about it at this point.). Last I checked, I'm #5 on their waitlist/alternate list so I'm not holding my breath.

Anyway, I won't qualify for the lottery at this time due to not having taken Bio 160, but it sounds like they have actually had less than needed for a lottery for a couple application cycles. Therefore, you can apply without having all support courses finished! You basically are on the alternate list after all lottery applicants who didn't get selected. I think I'm competitive other than that, though all of my classes were taken at another school which loses some points. I figure it's worth a shot! I plan to take Bio 160 in the Fall so I can qualify for the lottery in the Spring, but I'm still also going to apply for Winter. Anyone else applying while missing a support course? I'm taking the TEAS tomorrow, I did decent on the two practice exams, so I'm crossing my fingers. Are you guys applying to any other schools? I'm applying to UW's BSN and ABSN as well once they're open.

I’m pretty sure there are others who are in the same boat as us and I’m actually thinking about emailing (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) but will see. Let just hope that there are other people who doesn’t have CNA ready like us LOL.

Yes, definitely! How long do you think it’ll be until they send the first round of emails out? I’m always checking my mailbox even though I know it probably won’t happen for a couple of weeks

I’m checking my email like every 10mins! From I read, maybe 3-4 weeks? Hopefully not too long ?

So.. I just checked Pearson VUE web, and it says:

Student must complete the state approved training program.

If you did not complete a Washington state-approved training but wish to test, Please review the Washington Nurse Aide candidate handbook or visit the Washington website.

Does that mean we can take the test without the training? So confused ..

What?! I don’t get it. It sounds as if it wasn’t necessary to pay almost $1000 for the CNA training LOL But can we test without clinical? Hmm.. I’m confused, too. ?

It would be great if they allow us to take the exam without clinical. At this point, I’m thinking if I should just wait or start finding a place where I could work for just a week. ?

Right?! We might not have a choice!! LOL I’m concerned about how long it’ll take to schedule the state written and skills exam, too. Do you know anything about that??

So I checked Washington DOH web, it states:

Testing that resumes during the week of August 10 will begin with administration of the skills portion of the exam only. Testing for the written (or oral) exam will resume a few weeks later in a computer-based testing (CBT) format at Pearson’s third-party testing centers.

Even if they do open, I’m pretty sure there are a lot of people waiting to take this test and I don’t think everyone will be able to get it done by Sep 1st. Ugh!

My CNA instructor said you have to finish clinicals (or get a job to fulfill the requirements) before you can even schedule the state test. So.. that makes me a bit nervous!! At least we still have the option of Winter quarter if we can’t get everything completed in time?

I guess so ? but imagine we get picked from the lottery and we have to do this all over again for Winter? LOL.. that would be really annoying ??

Ugh I would be pretty heartbroken tbh. Going to cross my fingers and hope for a miracle!! Good luck to you! Update if you find any new useful info! Hope the odds are in our favor ?

Yeah! Good luck!! ?
