Read the questions briefly to get an idea of what to look out for during the reading of the passage.
Skim through the passage and once you recognize something that relate to the question then focus on it. Answer.
Or
Read the entire passage, then go through each question. If you dont know the answer. Then skip it, go to the questions that you do know the answer to.
Skip questions you don't know, more time you spend on it the more time you waste.
A lot of people seem to have trouble with time since they dwell on questions.
I got 12.9 or whatever the highest grade was for it. Using either of those techniques.

I see that you are trying to get into the Hacienda La Puente program. I'm currently in semester 2 and graduating in July! Best of luck.
I always read the questions first to know what im looking for, then I skim, a lot of times in the tabe test it will have questions that say "in the first paragraph the author wrote"....." and actually quote what theyre looking for so it makes it a lot easier. don't try to spend a lot of time reading it, skim if at all possible, its honestly not a hard test at all. I made 12.9+ on every subject, I wasn't expecting to do that well, and I was able to finish in half the time allotted. it was a lot easier than I was preparing myself for
Wow that's good. July is around the corner :) congrats. How do you like it so far?
Its been good, kinda stressful. But so far i've enjoyed it. It really depends if your class connects with each other. Im sure most of the people in our class wouldn't have made it this far if it werent for each other.

Any timed-test taking.tips for the reading comprehension part? My problem is I don't finish in time. Do you recommend read questions 'first' then passage? How important is 'skimming ' or speed reading? Also inferential questions like 'what's the main idea?' 'What is the author trying to say" "what's the tone/mood", etc do you underline keywords in the questions then seek when skimming passage? Do you read the passage within 3mintues?Math What's your advice for the applied math/word problems on this timed-test?I'm pretty confident on fractions, decimals, ratio/etc
