SWTCC Fall 2014 Nursing Hopefuls

Published

Hi all!

Just wondering if there are any hopeful candidates out there for the Southwest Tennessee Community College Nursing Program for Fall 2014?

If so, do you mind sharing your ranking index score with me? Or your NLN? I scored a 132 on the NLN and wanted to retake it to try for a higher score, but was told that my score was "high" for SWTCC so I settled for it. After reading some of the posts on here, though, I now feel as though my score is mediocre, at best.

I was speaking with my soon to be father-in-law earlier today. He graduated from the SWTCC nursing program in 07 and he was saying that if you do clinicals on Saturday then on Friday night you have to go to your clinical site and review labs and case studies. Does anyone know if there is any truth to that or if he is just trying to ruffle my feathers? I expect the program to be hard, but I am concerned that he is just trying to get to me and I am trying to figure out whether or not I should pay any attention to what he is telling me lol. . . . He says it will be incredibly hard to work and go to school. I think he is trying to coax me into quitting my job, but I don't want to do that until it is absolutely necessary! Can you PM me the link to that blog as well? That would be great, thank you!

If you have a Saturday clinical, majority of the instructors allow you to go to the hospital as early as Thursday evening to pick up your patient info. Also, I've known too many people who worked full time, took care of their families and got through the nursing program just fine.

It honestly all depends on your study habits….paperwork is really time consuming so if you have a job that allows you to take care of school stuff on the clock it would really really help

 I remember many days at the office...hiding my drug and care plan books in my lap under my desk trying to complete clinical paperwork. Man o man those were the days.

Does anyone know for sure what day they meet? I am anxious to find out who all gets in! I am blessed with a job that not only allows for some down time, but my employer also promotes personal growth and development, as well as professional, and has been a huge supporter in my decision to go back to school for nursing. I work in a doctor's office and IF I get in I shouldn't have any problems sneaking in study time during the day lol

Hey everyone Can someone point me in the right direction of how to compute your ranking index score? Thanks.

EXAMPLE:

A&P1- B = 12

A&P2- A = 16

MICRO- A = 16

--------------------

TOTAL= 44

NLN score 129 x 10%= 12.9

GPA 2.7

44+12.9+2.7= 59.6

INDEX SCORE= 59.6

I was looking on my.southwest today and looks like Fall 14 class will be in the new building...according to the location listed in course catalog for fall...Spring 14 foundations class had 63 students enrolled . I'm not sure I can make it another 2 weeks without knowing the wait is killing me!

The new building? The one on the corner of Union and whatever that little side street is? If that's the one I hope they do a lot of work between now and August because last week it didn't even have any exterior wall coverings lol. That is exciting though. Hopefully the new building comes with lots of new parking lol. I am dying to know too! I check my student email 5 or 6 times per day (at minimum). Hopefully we will start hearing something soon!

Yup thats the building! It comes with its won private nursing student ONLY parking garage!!!! I read all about it in the paper (i think) or maybe on the school website

Oh that will be awesome! That's the only campus I have ever had to attend and had issues with parking. Ugh. Anyway, good luck to you! Let us know as soon as you hear anything please!!
