Hello Everyone! I've seen previous posts discussing the Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC) nursing program for the past couple of years and I though I'd start up a fresh discussion board for the applicants of Summer 2018. I just completed my application and I'm hoping to get in with 18 points. I'm curious to know as to where everyone else is in their application process and if anyone has any more information on the upcoming months when the acceptance letters get sent out. Thanks!
I am a first year nursing student this year. Yes, the summer is just a calculations class. I honestly don't remember how often it was, I think 2 days a week for like 3 or so hours. It's super easy!!! The female/male ratio...I think we have about 10-14 guys in our class of 80'ish. The first orientation was a couple hours long, they just go over your welcome packet, tell the rules, what you have to have done by a certain date in August, answer any questions. It was very low key, and exciting at that point knowing that you are officially in the nursing program.
Congrats to everyone. Sounds like there are some good points. Last year was 16.5 and the year before was 16 (I missed it that summer by 1 point).
Good luck to all. I'll be sending positive thoughts to you all.
I was told we would hear back mid April. I also got a letter that had very big bold words that said "THIS IS NOT AN ACCEPTANCE LETTER". It was informing me to have money for a physical and shots. I don't know if you guys are saving or how you plan to pay for things, but I do remember from LPN school that there are always a bunch of unplanned expenses.
