SWIC Nursing Program Summer 17

Published

Hello everyone. Who all applied for the summer 17 program? Do anyone have any information about the DET exam? How is the nursing program at SWIC?

I know last year they had to have all white shoes. But who knows if that's changed...I don't know anything else, but I can't wait to start getting all my stuff!

The official point cut off was 16.5

I got a hold of last year's nursing student manual.

A wrist watch is allowed. This is all I could find on watches.

Shoes should be appropriate - shoes should be white with no colors, logos, etc. Toes must be closed. Sandals, clogs, slides, and crocs are not appropriate.

Hose must be worn with skirts and dresses. Socks or hose must be worn with slacks. Hose and socks are white and must cover the ankle.

The uniform top is white with a navy stripe on the sleeves - dress or pant suit for females and uniform top and trousers for males. A white cardigan type sweater or a lab coat may be worn. Pants/trousers are navy. Length for dress uniforms must not be above the knee.

The student's name badge will be worn on the left side of the uniform. The name badge can be ordered for a small fee in the print shop. A school patch will be worn on the left sleeve of the outermost garment. Patches can be purchased in the book store. No other buttons or pins are to be worn on the uniform.

I was able to go online and register for the summer course. So if our pre reqs are done, is there only the one course? I thought about retaking medical terminology as a refresher.

I'm taking Tues/Thurs @ I believe it's 8:00.

Yes, I believe we only need the one course in the summer, if our prerequisites are finished. I registered for the Tues/Thurs evening class with Ms. Martin. I had her last summer for Medical Terminology and really liked her a lot.

I also registered for my fall classes. We aren't able to look at the instructors for those classes yet. :(

I couldn't make it to the orientation last night.... can anyone tell me about it?

We were given a congrats packet that contained just info like vaccinations, medical info, classes, books, uniforms, etc. There are several papers in that packet that we have to fill out and some for the dr to fill out. It's all due back to the nursing dept by August 1. Also went over the cpr info. People could ask questions as we went. That was pretty much all, only took an hour. There will be another mandatory orientation in July sometime that's more in depth.

Did any of the military spouses ask how they would like you to prove you have Tricare? Thanks!

Just a copy of your military ID. I asked that when I called a long time ago.

Anyone have any info and the proficieny tests for ne 100 and any other ne classes?

Thanks!

Hey ladies! We have a Facebook group "swic nursing class of 2019" you should look up. You may be able to connect with people more easily than here.

But regarding the proficiency tests, you can test out of HRO 100 and NE 100 without fee if you want by calling the testing center. They need to be completed by close of business on May 26th.

Testing center ext is 5551
