Hey fellow RNs. I just wanted to start a new topic on Swedish Medical Center's May 2013 Residency cohort. I've read through the Jan 2013 thread, and just wanted to see if anyone here wanted to share their experiences for this cohort.
As for me, I interviewed with the manager for the tele departments last friday. I was told to expect a call if i was chosen to come back in for a panel interview with the staff members, but unfortunately I did not get a call so I assumed that I wasn't chosen to move forward. I finally got a call back today to confirm that I was not chosen, but there might still be openings in other departments. So I asked what other units might have openings, and after being given a list, I let the recruiting coordinator know that Im interested in ortho. So I was told that my resume will be passed on to that manager and to possibly expect another call for another opportunity to interview.
This is my first time applying for this program, and unfortunately, I missed the most recent meet and greet event because i was unaware of it.
Feel free to share your experiences! Good luck to everyone!
Im in the same situation as kittybomb. I registered for the meet and greet in May but also have finals that week, in Hawaii! Not sure what I was thinking initially. Sounds kind of crazy but I'm still debating whether or not I should go. I've heard how difficult it was to get into the Swedish residency program from a few people I've met here in Hawaii who've applied for the last few cohorts. Just wondering if anyone on this thread is from out of state and applying for this program?
There are hundreds of new grads applying for 44 positions and the meet and greet is an opportunity to get noticed. The next cohort starts in September!
"Hundreds" of new grads applying for 44 positions sounds great to me, esp compared to California, which is where I'm from, where there'll be over 1,000 applicants for 1 to 3 positions.
I have had a back and forth with the nursing recruiter who told me attendance at the meet and greet will not affect eligibility for this position.
It opens up tomorrow--good luck to all the applicants!

Is it up? What is it listed as?

You can only fill out the application when it is available online- so keep your eyes open for it! It is the same as any other RN application- basic demographic info and a cover letter and resume. That's it! So keep checking online for it on swedishcareers.org it will just say "RN residency". I only knew it was open because I emailed HR and they notified me when it opened. Then hopefully HR will chose to interview you and when they do they will ask what units you are interested in and tell you what units are hiring residents. And if she thinks you are a good fit, she will set up an interview with the nurse manager on the unit! Good luck
