Hi,
I just applied for the Swedish Jan 2014 residency. Wondering if folks here also applied and whether you have heard back, or if you know the timeline for that.
I tried emailing the Swedish Residency email several times in the past few months to find out about the Meet/Greet but never heard back. Did anyone manage to attend? Or is this a secretive gathering for some selected few?
Please share your experiences and journeys!!
Wow congrats! how was the in-person interview? what type of questions did they ask?
Unfortunately I didn't get the opportunity for an in person interview, they sent me this email: (not much explanation of why I did not get the inperson interview):
Hello
Thank you for your interest in Swedish Medical Center.
The Recruiter has decided to move forward with other candidates at this time.
We appreciate you taking the time to phone interview for the RN Resident position.
Thank you!
Swedish Recruiting
All the best to you all! :) I'll definitely try again in the future
Congrats Whaleluver33! I am ecstatic to say that I will be joining you this upcoming cohort! Woohoo! Did you get the email with all the information yet? I honestly was not listening to the recruiter on the phone because I was in a daze lol!!!
jnkwan, I am sorry you didn't get a chance to get an interview :/ I hope you get a chance to interview somewhere else. Are you from the Seattle area? If so, I know that Providence Everett is going to have their residency open up the 3rd week of Jan. Keep an eye out on that.
I'm sorry you didn't get an interview! I agree with LiftFit, definitely check into providence's MedSurg residency. But know that even if they want to interview you, they take a long time to callback. To prepare for the interview, I researched behavior style rn interviews and made a list of every possible question that they could ask. And then I wrote down all of my answers. If you had to write journal entries for clinical inschool, go back and read through those.
Congrats to you too LiftFit! What floor/unit will you be on? I'm in Nephro/Transplant. I don't know if I am the only one there or if they hired a few others also. I know Jan 13 is the start date and they will send the contract and everything via email within the next week or two. The hr gal said to not wait, get it all done right away because employment isn't official until they process it all. But official offer letters, they hope, will go out by next week.
I will be on the ICU/IMCU. I wonder how many people they hired on my floor too. Yeah I talked to the recruiter today again and she said the letters will be sent out next week. I know she said she still needs to check references from past employer/school and background. Which is weird to me, don't they check references prior to offering you a position? I wonder if they can still take the offer back and decide to with someone else...my worst nightmare lolol. But congrats again Whaleluver :)
Jnkwan, I also did what Whaleluver did. I researched behavioral-based questions and then wrote down my answers. I got 11 questions. Conflict with co-worker and how you dealt with it, a time when you were part of a team, a time when you went above/beyond for a patient/customer, tell me about yourself, why Swedish?, a time when you saw a nurse did something different from what you were taught, how do you prioritize your care, etc. I can't remember lol. But just know the basic questions. I've been to a few interviews and they ask somewhat similar questions. Good luck on your search. I know it gets discouraging, but hang in there! It will happen to you when the time is right :)
