Swedish Medical Center Residency December 2018

Nurses Career Support

Published

Hi all!

I recently applied for the RN residency program at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle. I also did the Hirevue interview sent to me a few days ago.

Just wanted to start a thread on applicants for the residency program or those who have experience with this hospital.

Anyone know the timeline from online interviews to receiving second interviews with the managers?

Any input would be great! :roflmao:

No I'm not.. I was afraid of starting to work and then not being considered a new grad for the residencies í ½í¸¬ but I will probably try and find something if I don't get anything soon. What about you?

Not working as an RN...really crossing my fingers that this residency falls into place

No RN experience either. Still waiting to take NCLEX prior to start date. As for updates, I keep checking my email every hour lol!

Swedish also offers a fellowship program for those with one year experience as well as those looking to switch specialties.

Have any of you guys received emails for second interviews?

Still no news...I sent an email asking again last friday and I'm hoping to get an answer sometime today. I'll post here if I hear anything. The anxiety is reaaaaaal

Neither have I.

I talked to the recruiter on Friday and he said he was trying to confirm how many spots were available and he said they think there is only 1.. which is super unusual.

Only 1 in general? All units?

I thought I was done stalking all nurses forums after I got accepted to nursing school. I didn't realize the difficulty in finding a job as a new RN. I've also applied to this residency and haven't heard anything. I turned in my Hirevue interview on 9/21.

Yea competition for a spot is steep, applying for programs and for new grad positions! But it also really depends on the geographic location you apply for, specialty, and the demand for nurses at that hospital.

I wish they had more openings for this cohort. Not too sure how I feel on waiting till next year. At this point, not sure if I should really consider other options outside Seattle area.. :(

If I had the luxury, I would take the opportunity to move out of state. I hear Texas is a good place to find jobs and my sister happens to live in Dallas. But I'm out of luck as I'm currently in a DNP program and need to find a job here or bust!

Yes, he said he was contacting the different departments to try and get a number on positions. He said usually there is about 10 but this time around (since they don't normally have a December cohort) maybe that's why there is only 1. He wasn't 100% sure but he told me if I hadn't heard anything by now, then the chances were slim.

Received the email regarding December positions. Recruiter said that if we haven't received a rejection letter from her, then we are still in the running for the December cohort. However, out of state applicants may not be considered unless we have an active Washington license.
