U.S.A. Washington

Published

Just wondering if anyone has been contacted for the 2017 August Residency at Swedish hospital?

I heard back and was offered a position on the general surgical floor at Issaquah! I hope to see some of you at orientation! :)

Could anyone comment on what the new grad pay is? i'm looking to move to the Redmond/Bellevue area and applying to the next Swedish New Grad program.

Starting January 1st the pay will be $32.31/hour; $2.75 differential for 3pm-11:30pm; $3.75 differential for 11:30pm-7:30am; $4 differential for weekend (Friday 11pm-Sunday 11pm). Here's the RN contract if you are also wondering about other benefits such as annual leave, sick leave, medical, etc. http://seiu1199nw.wp-responsive.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/7/2016/02/Swedish-RN-contract-2015-2019-smc.pdf

Congrats on landing the position at Issaquah Coug_nurse! I'm happy for you!

I'm only now doing my interview for a med/surg floor and I'd like to ask if you could share a little bit about your experience and some of the questions they ask if you don't mind sharing :)

Thanks and Congrats again!!!!

thanks! So mien was a committee interview comprising on nurse manager, charge nurse, and 2 staff nurses who had done the residency program in the past 1-2 years. Started off with very basic questions like tell me about yourself, why do you want to work for Swedish, why do you want to work for this unit, what are you looking for out a residency program. Then moved on to behavioral based questions and none of them caught me by surprise, pretty standard ones. Some specific ones were tell about a time you prevented conflict, tell about a time you had conflict with a colleague, tell about a time you disagreed about patient care with a coworker, tell about a time you saw infection control not being followed and what you did about it, tell about a time you received constructive criticism and how you handled this, what 3 attributes do you think are needed to be successful in the residency program, and the last one I remember is how you handle stress. Best of luck to you!! It was very straight-forward at the end I had tons of time to ask questions and it turned more into a conversation. Lasted 50 minutes in total, about 25-30 minutes of that was interview and the remaining time spent asking questions/having a conversation.
