Hi everyone!! I applied to Southern Westchester Boces and I am scheduled to take my entrance exam next Thursday. I am looking for anyone who has attended or has recently been accepted to the school. Or even anyone who knows anything about the test and scores needed in order to get accepted. I'm getting very nervous about the exam and any advice would be appreciated. I am curious to know how students are accepted - what scores are they looking for? Thank you!
Thank you abenitez!! it seems like u need pretty much no more than 10 wrong in reading/math to be over 50 percentile..congrats on the high language scores!!
Nurseladyy- lol i know im trying really hard not to stress about it and think about it 24/7 but its hard...ok im gonna relax for now b/c there is nothing i can do but wait!
NurseLadyy,
The BOCES program beginning in January is Dutchess Boces.
The BOCES program beginning in March is Western Suffolk Boces.
The program beginning every 3 months is Eastwick College (which also has a LPN to RN bridge program).
I'm going to do more research to try and find other programs beginning in January. I know that Dutchess is a far commute.. But I really don't care how far I have to go, as long as I am in the program and I'm finishing soon.. then I'll be happy.
Wow... I am very happy for you.. CONGRATS!!!!
:ancong!:
That was fast, and I told you so...lol.. I hear the interview the ask you why you want to be a nurse and they make sure that your home situation is in order to participate in the program. Like Dianedc123 says we should get our scores soon.
Like my mom use to say ands like I tell my children, Be honest and be yourself and you'll do fine.... Good luck
Btw, when is your interview?
Dianedc123- Can you say nervous, anxious, scarred, all mixed in one. I'm on edge.... I know I didnt do well in reading....:chair::sstrs:

NurseLadyy,
I know the feeling.. I, too, am rushing to get into a program and finish as quickly as possible. My duties at work are taking vital signs every 4 hours, checking blood glucose levels as needed, turn patients, assist with toileting, assist with ambulating, and depending on what shift you work, you have to give bed baths, empty foleys, document patient data in the computer, etc. A lot of nurses let you do things like insert foleys and practice inserting an IV on them (the nurses) just so we can learn. I've learned so much working in a hospital. I was hired with no experience. Like I said they train you in the hospital. All you need is a high school diploma.
