SW Boces Entrance Exam

Published

Hi everyone!! I applied to Southern Westchester Boces and I am scheduled to take my entrance exam next Thursday. I am looking for anyone who has attended or has recently been accepted to the school. Or even anyone who knows anything about the test and scores needed in order to get accepted. I'm getting very nervous about the exam and any advice would be appreciated. I am curious to know how students are accepted - what scores are they looking for? Thank you!

Ur name is Alicia too? Mine tooo! That's so funny

cool... :) what a coincidence.

LOL. I saw Alicia2BLPN and NT and I was like wait... Hahaha. That's so funny that you guys have the same name!!! Now when I meet you girls and you say, "Hi, I'm Alicia.", I'm going to have to say, "Alicia2BLPN or NT?" LMAO. I know, I just relisted my car, hopefully it goes soon.

Does anyone know if the classes at boces are credit classes? & Are they able to be transferred to another school to be applied to an RN program (other than the schools that SW boces has articulation agreements with).

I was looking into Excelsior College... its all online but I'm not sure if the classes from Boces will transfer.

I know I'm getting way ahead of myself here, we didn't even begin the program yet. But I'm just weighing out my options!

I think that "technically", the only bridge program that has accepted SWBOCES credits is Helene Fuld in Harlem. But, if you work for 1 year as an LPN after the program, I think any bridge program would accept you. Most of them just have requirements of the person working as a full time, employed, LPN for at least 1 year. Don't quote me on that though, I'm just making an assumption based on the searching I did myself...before I was even accepted into the program! LOL.

I know, but I think we have to get an 85% in every single class in order to even be considered for the Helene Fuld program right? I know that Dominican College in Rockland county also has an agreement with Boces but it's $10,000 a semester!

Anyway, I can't even describe how excited I am to begin. It's pretty much all I think about... and to think that we have another 2 months until orientation. That's so long! I wish I knew what books we need so I can order them and start looking through them. LOL. I'm so pathetic!!

Holy crap, $10,000 a semester is RIDICULOUS! Then again, I paid $30,000 per year for college in MA. At Dominican, is it a 2 semester program?

And I am totally with you on being excited for school. It's all I think about as well. I want to go buy my binders and supplies! LOL. I have to call tomorrrow and make my doctor's appointment. All those shots listed on the yellow form have to be done BEFORE orientation. It says they need to be done after May 1st of the current year, and due at orientation. I have no insurance, so it's gunna cost me like $500 probably! I don't even care though, I just want to start already...

Its a BSN program so I think it would be two years... right?! or Maybe 3. Not sure, but I think I would get my associates first. I'm gonna try and work my butt off so I can try to get into Helene Fuld. We need to form some sort of study group!!

I made my Doctor's appointment for Tuesday!

I wonder if we get our books during orientation. I heard we'll be given homework to do for the first day of class.

I know! I want to get into Helene Fuld also! We should definitely have a study group.

And as sick as this sounds...I can't wait for homework. Hahahhahaha. I'm a nerd and proud!

I knowwww I can't wait either!!!

Are you serious about getting into Helene Fuld?! We should definitely try. We can go through both schools together!!! LOL.

Yeah, I'm completely serious! I wish we didn't have to work for a year. It'd be better if we could just go straight to Helene Fuld after graduating BOCES...but I understand that we need the experience!

hey NT- i was wondering the same thing about LPN boces credit transferring over for RN programs too, b/c i have heard that since we wont be taking credit courses at a college, that we would have to take them over for RN if we wanted to bridge...ill ask that as one of my questions tmw :)
