Sutter Health New Grad Positions

Published

Has anyone applied to the new grad positions that were posted for Sutter Health? I haven't heard anything yet.

what positions did you apply for?

Somehow I saw that they have unposted the training program for L&D.

i tried going for that LL&D position, and i didn't get in. ehh.

i don't think the positions were specific; it just stated new grad program. i applied to each location.

Yeah I saved quite a few positions in my file ad emailed for more info but haven't heard back. I'm not sure if I could apply as my graduation date is for this summer. Do you know anything more about the requirements? I also noticed that some positions doesn't speficify required years of experience.

Specializes in pediatrics, emergency.

Hi!

I got the L&D message stating it had been filled. As for the other new-grad postings, nothing yet?? Hope this helps :-)

GOOD LUCK! It's tough out there!

Hi! Are you talking about the Sutter Sacrament-Sierra Region new grad positions? I applied to those on March 7 and still haven't heard anything.

I remember there were several locations offering a new grad program, so I applied for all the locations.

I applied for all the locations and got rejection emails for all of them today.

Specializes in Couplet Care/Newborn Nursery.

I applied to 3 locations and received rejections from all 3.

Under the FAQ it says that one of the requirements is the applicant has to graduate from a nursing school in the Sacramento area. I had seen that, but applied anyways.

Specializes in postpartum, newborn, geriatric/LTC.

Where is this celebrated FAQ?

I never saw that depressing 'local nursing school' requirement anywhere....

I was starting to wonder what kinds of sexual favors...or whatever... I had to do to get someone past HR to see my Sutter New Grad apps; I have applied for 15+ of these same Sutter NG/Training positions at various locations in the past 5 months and *always* got that mysterious, unhelpful "position has already been filled" or "you were not selected" email. No interviews. No explanations. I could not figure out what was so automatically repellent about me!

My story: I'm from the Sacramento area, did my undergrad at UC Davis, but decided to go to Duke for my BSN - just for something different. I'm back in NorCal and fully intend to stay and work here, but I guess Sutter's silly policy means I'm considered "out of area"?? If so, that is too annoying for words. I understand the '*letter* of the law', but the '*spirit* of the law' should consider me fully eligible! ( I am committed to staying and working in the area as long as they want me to - not just 'getting my 1 year' and leaving). It's just frustrating because it's clearly a problem with HR not wanting to look past the dry facts on the resume (where you went to nursing school. period), rather than the full picture (where your address is, where the majority of your employment was, etc etc).

In light of this, I'd love to know the 'vital info' of anyone here who actually managed to get emails from Sutter other than those cold, unhelpful rejection emails. I would like to have a better idea of whether I'm completely wasting my time with Sutter NG apps because of my [apparently] stinky, repellent Duke BSN. Anyone got past HR with a BSN/ADN from a non-NorCal school?

Thanks, y'all.

PS: Hi, LDrnWNB! Hooray for solidarity with Scripps Rejects ;) Onward and upward, LD/WNB/PP comrade....

I'm assuming your preceptorship was in a similar area as mine (Maternal-NB), and that you are having similar problems convincing NG programs to hire in any other area...? I swear, we're still competent generalist nurses!

Specializes in Couplet Care/Newborn Nursery.

SarahLT_RN: How weird I just went back to the Sutter Sacramento webpage and all the info they previously had there is gone, except for a short paragraph! A couple months ago it had some general information about the new grad program and it mentioned something about being a graduate of a nursing school in the Sacramento area. I am also from Sacramento, but went to nursing school in southern CA.

Check out Mercy San Juan and Mercy General Sacramento they just posted some new grad positions :)
