Yes. I've never wanted to be anything but a nurse, and even in my darkest hours, I still don't want to be anything but a nurse. The only thing I would have done differently is to pursue my BSN immediately after graduating from my 3 year program. I may or may not have gotten a Masters. I know I would definately not have married the same man, tho I wouldn't trade in my kids for anything. JP

A most definite yes. I met the head nun of our local nursing school, and she talked me into doing nursing. She saw something in me I didn't know was there, this is the job I was always looking for and didn't know it.

Only as a means to a different end . . .

No...there is no respect, the work is taxing, the pay poor, management is degrading, nurses "eat their young" and bicker so much among them self

Absolutly I would never do anything else. I am working on my masters for nursing education and in some way or another I will always be in the field. As far as "eating our young" if you don't do eventually no one will it has to start somewhere and a kind reminder might be all it takes!

I graduated in June, so I don't have a wealth of experience to base my opinion on. I work med-surg, but would like to work OB. Now, I feel as if I have learned SO much working on med-surg..invaluable. But, if I had gotten a job in OB vs. med surg, of course I would have gone OB instead.
