What is your favorite Drug Book and why?

I recently bought the 2006 Nurse's Essential Drug Guide at Barnes & Noble. However, I find myself always comparing it to my wife's [also an RN] Davis's Drug Guide for Nurses Fifth Edition [Copyright 1997]. Therefore, wish I'd bought the most recent edition of Davis's DG for Nurses rather than the forementioned D/T a more concise info source, IMHO.

I would definitely recommend Davis' Drug Book for Nurses. IMO, it is one of the easiest to use. That is the one that I used through nursing school, and still now prefer to use it at work instead of the drug books that we have available to us. I will also most likely stay with Davis when purchasing updated editions in the future. I also recommend either the RN or LPN pocket notes (they have many other 'notes' too) that are available from the same company. VERY handy - especially during clinicals for quick and easy reference.

Best of luck to you as you continue nursing school and hope I was of some help :)

I like Davis Drug Guide. I did buy the Medi quik drug cards but don't like them at all. Davis is user friendly and easy to understand. FA Davis website on drugs is not that good though. I have tried researching drugs there and end up referring back to my Davis drug guide instead for the info.

It's not that I like it or not but it's the one that the school told us to buy. The name is...

I totally agree. I had the Medi Quik drug cards also....and they were horrible along with a waste of money (Just my opinion). Half the drugs that I needed drug cards for were not even including in the cards...so I found myself having to make up index cards anyway. I would also recommend making your own drug cards anyway with index cards of the most common drugs-you will most likely retain more info about the drugs that way. And bring your drug book of choice to clinicals for the not so common drugs. This is just my '2 cents' and the way I would do it if I had to go back and do it over again (thank gooooodnesssss I don't have to LOLOLOL).

Hope we have been able to help :)

Good question, I've been wondering as well.

I got a free brand new copy of Davis Drug Guide for Nurses so I guess I'm in luck.

I also use Prentice Hall. We had to buy it for school. Now that I am used to it I find it hard to use anything else...LOL...know that sounds silly. I have the Davis one too...just bought it but have not had the chance to use it yet as I am done with school as of today and do not actually start working until I take my boards. I think they all have their ups and downs. Some have more information in them than others and others are easier to read and understand.
