I guess this is a would you reather question, if you were stuck in a position of living with someone so negative telling you that you have no chance of becoming a nurse, give up.

would you stay at home where there is free food and bored but negativity telling you, you will never make it and you will be lucky enough to work at mcdonalds or would you move out, work a job while going to school and support your self finacialy while being in a positive enviorment with no one waiting and hoping you fail?

If you can keep your eyes on your goal, I'd stick to the free food and board route, unless the negativity will completely immobilize you. It's possible their attitude may soften once they understand what it's all about and observe you being committed and enthusiastic about your choice.

Additionally, though it pains me to admit it, nursing school isn't a guaranteed positive environment, either. Good luck to you!
