Hi all. This is my first post on here. I am desperately seeking others who have been through this program or who are interviewing for it for this year. I applied 1/18 to Stony Brooks PMHNP program and received email today to schedule interview.
ANYONE OUT THERE RECENTLY GO THROUGH THIS PROGRAM? I'd like some insight on the interview process, how long it took to get acceptance/decline letter... and I'm also wondering why I was asked to bring my laptop? Is this something everyone is asked to do? It's NBD... but just seemed odd to me.
Thank in advance. Any and all info would be greatly appreciate.
Hi here is my comparison. I have been an RN for 8 years. Graduated with my BSN in December with a 3.77. My background for 6/8 years has been working with military veterans and there spouses. I manage a 41 bed sub acute unit and my unit is also primary unit people with primary psychiatric diagnosis are admitted too. My recommendations are from a psychologist i work closely with to manage in house patient psych care. a professor, director of nursing, physical therapist, and an infection control nurse. We will see..the people I interviewed with had extensive psych nursing background...I don't think I'm the strongest candidate but you never know what they are really looking for.
Please let me know if you do. I won't. I'm too chicken. Have you applied anywhere else? I applied to Binghamton, Sage, Husson and SB. The Dean of Graduate nursing admissions at Binghamton, personally called me to let me know I was going to be accepted and would be receiving my official acceptance letter by email a few days later. She then told me that she liked my essay and that I worked with the Veteran population. She then went on to inform me that not ALL their classes are online and that she would have her secretary email me the courses that are only offered on campus. Then we briefly discussed where I was considering doing my clinicals. Overall it was pretty awesome. Needless to say, it's a 2 hour drive from my house and I have a 3 year old and a 5 month old. I'm not sure I want to do that drive weekly. THIS IS SO STRESSFUL.
