SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University ABSN 2021-2022

Published

Hi everyone,

I've started this thread so we can discuss and share our experiences applying to SUNY's ABSN program for 2021. Being that the application period just opened, I’m sure we can all benefit from sharing information in regards to the process.

Best of luck to those applying!

They mentioned it in todays information sessions ? I tried asking when interviews started but they didn't say. they also wouldn't say how many seats are left

if it makes anyone feel better, I have a 4.0 in my prerequisites, a 3.7 undergrad and for the TEAS I got 98 in science, 98 in reading and 94 in math. I have heard NOTHING and my application still says file forwarded to program for review. and I applied in october. so IDK what to think about this but it seems like maybe they're really behind or something

really frustrating to say the least

I feel you, I have a spot in a Summer semester starting school but would not prefer that tuition. I think my chances are dwindling and I wish us all luck on hearing back soon. Really sucks to be in the dark for 5 months after submitting WAY before deadline on a  "rolling admissions" basis.

I actually ended up committing to another ABSN but was curious to see how things would play out with downstate. This whole process has been super disorganized if I’m being honest

OMG thank you, this actually calmed my anxiety a little bit... it has been so frustrating and stressful

I actually just spoke to someone on the phone and he said that the interview process is ongoing, that they have 100 percent not filled all the seats and that as a result of the deadline being extended everything is taking longer than usual. SO THERE IS HOPE! It sounded from his tone like there actually are quite a few seats left

so not time to freak out yet I would say ?

I have a similar GPA to yours as well. Hoping they start notifying us soon...

just had my interview and it went well. She told us that we will hear the decision by the end of the week or early beginning of the week

That is awesome to hear! What were the types of questions that were asked? How was the group format?

Glad to hear it went well!!

Based on post history, others got their notification of status updates on Friday and received a call the following Monday. So I believe that they do weekly batches of interviews... Guess we have to check Friday night for any status changes and wait on Monday for a call

Hey, guys do think it too late to send in an application the only thing I missing is TEAS scores other than that everything is done.
