These directly effect us.
Wow! The way i am reading this, and please someone correct me if i am in error, this is the first real step in some justice for the abuse that these programs heap on some of us.
These changes may be pointed at the Texas folks, but where it starts in one state, it inevitable follows in others. It seems that Texas is leading the way. i can only hope that the snowball starts to roll and gathers momentum quickly.
Very interesting! I just read it myself. I agree with the flexibility, something needs to be done. Thinking about contacting my case manager and asking her about this. Has anyone ever asked for early dismissal from the program? I've got 2 years of sobriety behind my name, have not practiced in that amount of time either. I run NA in my home town, I go to meetings, I stay sober. I think they need to do something though about those nurses who have a lot of sober time behind their name or have charges/convictions from years ago that should not require them to have to endure this hell. LOL
ALSO: this is on their website.
To view the Sunset Staff Report with Final Results for each agency, visit the agency page under Current Reviews. Please note, the Legislature did not take action on five boards (Medical Board, professional counselors, marriage and family therapists, social workers, and psychologists) that will sunset on September 1, 2017, unless continued in the special legislative session scheduled to begin July 18. Sunset will publish the complete record of each of these reviews after the special legislative session.
I emailed my case manager. This is what she said: Hello Erika, There will be changes; however, I am not sure as to when the changes will occur. I am glad things are going well. If any of the changes affect you, I will keep you informed. Good luck with the job hunt. Take care. Best, .....
I figured this much. My attorney suggested for me not to apply for endorsement until the sunset commission finished. So I'm sitting on all my paperwork just trying to figure out when to send it all in. My situation was not related to nursing never diverted. I got a dui on my day off. I completed all court requirements including therapy, random urine screens for alcohol and drugs along with all the classes. My dui was alcohol related not drugs.

So anyone aware of any changes? I've read the report but I can't find anywhere that the board of nursing has stated any changes
