Joe glad people show up.
Now power yet. Site says by midnight but status "unassigned". As they day goes on I'm trying to keep hopes up. Just sitting is making me sweat. Otherwise I got more ice and trying to keep food cool . Good thing I don't have meat.
Saw a post on Facebook that a struggling vegan place is open today in the devasted waterfront community of Gulfport so will have lunch, although they say their conditioner is out. LOL
Power is back on since 6pm almost 72 hours since it went off. I understand that compared to immense ongoing suffering so many people are going through this is nothing. But I ain't going to lie, my house was 90 degrees feels like 100 and it was miserable.
I did go to Gulfport, a small waterfront town the next town over from me, for lunch to throw support to a vegan establishment that is struggling. Was happy to see it was busy. The waterfront community there was devastated closer to the water, which law enforcement had roped off. I saw a bit set up of people giving away free food to those in need and was good to the see community out supporting the community.
Hooray for having power back on. And air conditioning!
So Hubs decided yesterday to start getting boxes relocated as we were supposedly going to do during my week off. These were boxes of clothing, sheets, towels that we isolated while tackling the bedbugs. It would take soooo long to wash all that at home that I took it all to a laundromat today and did about a dozen loads. Whew! I was tired and running late so didn't go to book club. Again. But I just couldn't make myself drive to OKC right then.
I am so glad you got power back on, Tweety; I was sweatin' for ya! It's not been hot or cold here. No rain today, tho' they said 43% chance of rain. Odd number to come up with for a percentage, IMHO. I always want to add "and 1/2".
Still haven't gone out anywhere since the storm. Tomorrow I have to do a few errands, so I'll see if there are any of the road dips near little streams that got flooded. ('road dips' ---- 🤣hahaha; I've seen some 'dips' out on the road sometimes!)
SiL will come give Nannie a shower tomorrow and then she said she will come over the next day and take her off for the afternoon. She had BiL deliver us some homemade spaghetti with meat sauce and mushrooms. It was good, and so was the apple pie she sent us for our desserts.
Today was Nannie's laundry day. She sits and watches me fold clothes, which kinda makes me feel berserk, and I want to say, like I used to say to my lil doggies...."STOP LOOKING AT ME!" But naturally I said nothing. And she kept telling me I had some really pretty clothes and I kept telling her they were all HER clothes.
My friend from Fla sent me and Momo a few presents. I guess her hubby makes good money, because she is always wanting to send me things. She sent TWO identical squeak toys like the one Momo has taken up with this last month. So, IF Mom ever bites through the ones he has (which I doubt will happen) she has extras. She asked me what she could send to ME, so I told herof a movie that I've always liked and I would really like to see again. She was going to send me one of those little thingies with a smallish screen to watch it on. So, she sent me LONESOME DOVE....maybe I can watch it when CG is here. I can't watch any movies because they confuse the heck out of her and it annoys me to have to pause or mute the TV so I can hear her or so I can 'splain it to her, except she doesn't remember and will ask again a few minutes later. So no movie watching in the den on the big screen!
She told me this running tale of what she saw outside....deer and squirrels, (both of which I had to identify for her) and.....there were 5 or so people she said she saw in the woods, who came right up into the back yard and right onto the patio, but then it .... abruptly, but seamlessly, somehow without taking a breath, segued into her talking about her pants and shoes, and then she made me look how well her jacket went with the rest of her outfit, and how she could pull the sleeves of her jersey out from the sleeves of her jacket (see? see?) That was only a small portion of it, because in between she said a lot of "oh, you know" and "I can't think of the word" and waved her hands and pointed.... So, my GOSH!! 😳 I just sat there with my chin on my hand and said "Uh-huh, yeah, uh-huh" a lot. I wish I could send y'all a recording of her talking, it'd make your heads spin!
It is now 11 PM, Nannie is in bed, Momo is resting beside me after humping her toy (!) and I am going to finish this up and pick up my Karin Slaughter book ("A Faint Cold Fear") from the library. Between her and James Patterson, the library has 2-3 shelves-worth of each author's books. I know I have read a lot of them already, so I have to be careful because I will pick up something that sounds interesting, but then about a dozen pages in I remember I've already read it. They each use the same characters in a series of books. I am going to start writing down the character's names and their relation to each other in the stories, because....since I only read at night, and I read LOT of different author's, I get confused as to who is who because there are similar names; it all runs together like ....what is that material that the colors bleed and that's a plus? Madras!
Blah-dee-blah-blah. You know I could chat forever, but y'all will just have to wait for the next installment, because I want to READ instead of type!
I called Momo a "he" and I talked about not watching movies in the den, but upon re-reading it, I see it looks like I am talking about the CG being confused by them. Just my fast-flying fingers getting behind on my thinking.....I think.
One of my favorite sayings for a cussing substitute now is.......
"Well, I swear......................frequently!"
Like my sister used to say to me when we shared a room: "Shut up and go to sleep!"
Hi. Nice day here. Spent some time with the Master Gardeners. Then stopped at Walgreens to pick up some things. I didn't have my debit card, and tried to pay with my phone. Except I hadn't updated to my new card, and the transaction wouldn't go thru. I thought the cashier was rather rude, because she continued to have a personal convo with the customer in front of me. And when I said I would come back to pay for my 4 items, she asked me to re-shelve them. This is while she is sitting behind the counter, talking to her friend. I did re-shelve them, but didn't go back.
I have the dogs a bath and a nail clipping, then outside to poke around in the yard. Tomorrow we are taking eldest ds and his wife to SeaTac to fly to Europe for their belated honeymoon.
90 and humid. Yuck. Is it weird that I have never had a desire to travel to Florida? It looks pretty, but the weather doesn't seem welcoming.

Tweety hopefully by now your power is back on
Dianah glad the heat is finally past
Stars glad the day has not been aggravating
Ado that's a cool display to have
NJ22 I heard that too. When I was in NC some people I knew had their cars totaled after being flooded by a tropical storm
Didn't see much bird watching yesterday, but then it was too cloudy to get any good pics. Did a bit of shopping then had lunch with dad as usual. Made plans to attend the performance of my nephew's acapella group next Saturday, I'll drive as he doesn't want to drive home late in the evening. Then had the dinner with the over 50 group, was nice, all 5 of us showed up, the first time I've had everyone who signed up show up. Am beginning to plan next month's event already
Today decided to make waffles this morning as I didn't yesterday. Learned the key to keeping them light and crispy is to separate the egg white and beat it into a meringue before adding to to the batter. Will go to church a bit early as I am ushering again this Sunday. Then will do the cooking for the week. The rest of the day should be pretty quiet
Should be a nice day, mid 70s but no rain expected
