Happy birthday TMB

NJ22 the kayaking sounds cool

Hi Dianah and Ado

Tweety glad you stuck with your guns

Stars glad you are feeling better about this than a few weeks ago, even though you have so much to do

Thursday my cousin drove up and we had lunch then headed to Milwaukee.  Decided we would walk most places rather than trying to drive.  That  first day we walked to their Public Market and bought some stuff and had a drink.  My cousin had Spotted Cow  beer, which she loves but is only sold in Wiscosin

The next day we took a long walk to the art museum, which was nice but I felt we spent too much time here.  And to be honest I like the Chicago Art Institute better.  Had lunch and then took a short walk to the Public Museum, which we both wished we spent more time at.  But we had a brewery tour early that evening, which was fun even though I really am not a beer drinker.

We left Saturday, my cousin wanted to stop at the Mars Cheese Castle on the way home, which was  tourist trap but kind of neat.  Still managed to get home before noon. Looks like we'll go again next year,  might do  3 days so  we have time to get everything in

Today have church.   Then dad and I will be going to our old church for their final service.  Will be interesting if a bit sad.  But not surprising, they have been declining for decades

Will be a rainy day in the 60s here.  Thankfully the rain held off in Milwaukee until we were on our way home

I got up late and found the baseball game had already started, so I got Nannie up for her yogurt and meds. The game is only in the top of the third inning, so we didn't miss much, as the score is 0-0.

I'll come back by here later----

Huh! Not a game worth watching! Braves lost to the Marlins 14-2...EGADS!

We had rain earlier this morning but it had stopped during the middle of the ballgame, so I went outside to feed the 'livestock' which showed up about 15 minutes later.

Hubby asked me if I thought Medicare would pay for a "total body scan". I dunno, but I said that the docs would have to justify it. I think he should have a head to toe MRI, but I'm not sure if the metal in his old knee-replacement would cause a problem. But I do think a head and torso MRI would be a good idea. I was reading about pancreatitis this morning and wondering if hubby has a touch of chronic pancreas troubles. I'm not much of a diagnostician, but I think it sure wouldn't hurt to eliminate some possibilities. *sigh* I'm sure all the alcohol he drinks does not help, and causes many of his problems. Like I've said before, his 'follow-through' on things is poor, if not fatal (yet).

Babble-babble. Time to decide about supper.?

Good point about whether he would follow through. As far as I remember, pancreatitis is treated with fasting and abstinence. He would likely need hospitalization to get fluids. Do you really think he would go for that?

Good question, j22. He'd HAVE to be in the hospital to be abstinent! But he HATES the hospital.  Come to think of it I think he had seen a gut guy a few or more years ago. Maybe a bump from the PCP might be necessary. But it sure would be good to actually KNOW....something. Even if it is 'just' the vodka, I do suspect there are also other things going on.

My mistake....The Braves lost to Miami 16 - 2. Miserable!

Joe, your trip sounds like it was fun. Was the "castle" really made of cheese? Up in Maine they have Lenny the Chocolate Moose, made in full size. There is a wooden frame and lots of chicken wire under all the chocolate. I watched a film about how they made it, pretty interesting.

No, just looks like a yellow castle. Had seen in a few times before but  never  stopped

Welcome back Joe!

I have a friend that drinks a lot and his pain was so bad he was hospitalized and did IV fluids and stayed a few days and recovered nicely.  Started drinking again and had a flare up which he decided to manage at home by not eating or drinking.  I explained to him, which he knew, was he had to remain abstinent always to prevent recurrence.  Guess he had to prove it to himself.  He's only in his early 40's.  But the lure of alcohol is more than remembrance of his miserable pain.

Worked today and ER made a huge stink about a patient I forgot to discharge out of the computer and that came back to be re-admitted which they couldn't do because the system thought they were still admitted.  A simple phone call to me to ask me to discharge the patient was all they needed to do, but they tattled to their director, the Administrator on Duty and to my manager.  Honestly you would have thought I gave someone a paralytic and killed them.  I'm so extremely angry at them tattling that my head hurts.  The manager said, "well they are busy and it was a hardship"...I get that that but three phone calls instead of one???  I had a patient in rapid a-fib and one complaining he couldn't swallow and felt his throat swelling up after jaw surgery.  Med-surg nurses have issues too.  Sheesh.  If you read that, thank you.

Tweety I don't blame you for being angry/irritated.

I've had patients who return from time to time with acute bouts of pancreatitis because they just can't stay away from the alcohol. Seems like a miserable life to me but I do have my own bad habits. And I'm sure they're doing some damage.

This book is engaging -- at least I want to find out how it ends. It reminds me of all the sci fi shows that Hubs likes to watch on TV.
