Tweety that's always nice when you don't have to cook for Thanksgiving

Stars here's hoping she can get into some sort of respite care before your SIL has to have the back surgery

Ado I hope the steroid injection takes care of the pain for you

NJ22 was dreary here yesterday too

Dianah that sounds like an interesting soup

Went to the Arboretum in the morning, was pretty quiet there, probably because it was cool and cloudy.  Did see a Belted kingfisher there, which was a rare find

In the evening had a get together with the over 50 group, went well enough, though only 4 people.  I will try a different location for next month, given that this time we were in a mall, which I'm sure will be crazy prior to Christmas.  Came home and caught part of Svengoolie

Today will do the cooking for the week, either before church or after church.  Will be reader as well as an usher at church.  Will have a call with someone I met on one of the dating apps, we'll see how this goes and if it proceeds to meeting in person.  Not sure if this person will prove to be a friend or something more

Going to be a bit warmer today, in the low 50s, rain should hold off until the evening

G'mornin'~

Today the high temp will be 65 degrees and it will be sunny......AND if you have really good vision and a decent elevation, the visibility factor will be 11.99 miles! I guess the barometric pressure has gone down, because everything that hurt yesterday morning and throughout the day~ has eased off before I have taken my morning meds. So, I hope not to be a'hobblin' later on, once these AM meds kick in. I remember 50+ years ago, when waiting for something to "kick in" referred to recreational drugs.🙃 (I'm a child of the 60's and 70's, what else can I say?!)

I'm awake and about to run down to the kitchen and get a 2nd cup of coffee.....and  maybe I will close my eyes again! It is almost 11 AM and I have already set up Nannie's breakfast tray for SiL to give her after her shower. I am not going to get up  until after they have left for the nail salon. I still have a hard time believing that the nail salon will be open on Sunday, but what do I know? I don't get around much!

My eyes are telling me that they are quite willing to close again for a while, so for now I will end here.

Aaaaannnndddd, Just as I was drowsing off, SiL arrived. I had convinced Momo not to bark much, and was ready to fall asleep....when SiL came upstairs and said that Nannie was sitting on the floor beside her bed. She had slid off the mattress while trying to put on her shoes. Don't know how long she'd been sitting there, but at least she's not hurt. So we both got her under an arm and had her push her feet against the big dresser to help propel her upwards back onto the bed.

*sigh*

I put in a search for a clarification of the meaning of "existential dread" and got an AI answer (which I did NOT ask for!) which used the word 'existential', not as an example in a sentence, but as part of the definition. Like, almost as in this paraphrase: 'Existential dread is existential."

AI needs to go back to school.

DUH!

Yeah, well, apparently this particular nail salon SiL goes to with Nannie does have Sunday hours, and since it is Sunday it was not crowded. They got Nannie's nails cut down, filed, and painted a different color......in 1/2 hour. I was so surprised to hear them drive back into the yard so soon. I had enough time to wash my face and brush my teeth, get dressed .....and then my time to myself was OVER. I barely had time enough to blink!

Once Nannie got settled in her recliner, she naturally saw SiL's car outside the back door and said, "Are we going out?" She didn't remember, when I asked her to show me her new nail color, that she'd just had them done. And then SiL left, dashing Nannie's hopes for a ride in the car. Too bad her short-term memory is even shorter than it has been.

Fortunately Nannie has closed her eyes and is nodding off, so maybe it will be a good QUIET afternoon.

G'day.

Had a decent day.  Was a "free charge" in that I had two patients assigned to me.  Didn't get all the "rounding done" oh well.  My "easy patient" had GI bleeding, dropped his blood count and needed a transfusion and was rushed to surgery.

Hope everyone is feeling well and rested.

No Stars, I hope it is/was, indeed, a quiet afternoon.  Does Nannie show off her newly-painted nails, the way she does her matching top/shoes/pants?

Tweety, rest well tonight.  I'm glad the day was decent.

Hello Joe, nursej22, Ado, and all the rest of the lurkers.  😉😄

Here is the recipe, in case you wanted to try it.  I will notate where I have tweaked it for my tastes/convenience:

Chicken Tomatillo Soup                                      makes 8+ cups (lasts us four meals)

1 10-oz can RoTel diced Tomatoes and Green Chiles

6 medium tomatillos, chopped to make about 2 cups

1 medium onion, finely chopped (I used brown onion)

2 Tbsp olive oil

8 cups chicken broth (I used 1/2 chicken stock, and 1/2 vegetable stock, don't ask me why, I just did, LOL!)

2 large Anaheim chiles, seeded and finely chopped (or may use 1 4-oz can diced green chiles.  I caught a canned/tinny flavor last time I used the canned, so opted for the fresh Anaheims)

1 tsp marjoram (or Mexican oregano, if you have it)

1/2 tsp ground cumin

1/2 tsp coriander

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp pepper

2 10-oz cans shredded canned chicken (or 4 cups diced cooked chicken)

1 pkg (10-12 oz) frozen cauliflower rice (thaw in microwave)

1 cup cilantro, chopped (more or less, to taste; I know some ppl don't care for cilantro)

2 Tbsp fresh-squeezed lime juice (or may substitute lemon juice, if you don't have lime)

For serving: diced avocados on top

Saute onion and Anaheim chiles in olive oil, X 3-4 minutes.  Add rotel, tomatillos, stock, and spices.  Bring to a boil and simmer X 20 min.

Add chicken, riced cauliflower, cilantro, and lime juice.  Simmer X 5-10 min, allowing flavors to marry.   Serve topped with diced avocado.

Have a good evening!

I did two loads of laundry, changed sheets and towels, and made a trip to the grocery store.  After supper, I mixed up a batch of spice cookie dough, and the pumpkin dip they are dipped into.  The dough is chilling and I will bake them tomorrow.

That's all for now!

I sure can relate to that, No Stars !  Child of the '70's here 😀 .

I believe I made the " I don't feel anything, so let's take another one !  "   mistake  once.....or twice...😂
