Tweety Costa Rica sounds nice

Hi Dianah

Stars I'm glad he's drinking just enough to keep the DTs away, hopefully the insurance guy can confirm what  you've read

NJ22 it's cold and  clear here too

J and I will be meeting this afternoon at our new favorite place.  I think things will be more settled after this, as we adapt to our new relationship.  We probably won't meet next month, he'll be in Pittsburgh with his friend for Christmas and I'll have church stuff.

Was going to go out bird watching but it  was too windy and cold.  Instead I had time to relax before driving to meet Dad and his girlfriend and driving them to Indiana to see my nephew's final high school musical

Was a great performance, he was one of the brothers in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.  But the drive there was slow as we had some heavy snow showers.  And we were delayed getting back as we got a bit lost.  So it was a pretty long day for me

We were thinking of celebrating my birthday a bit early, sometime yesterday,  but with all the driving there wasn't time, we'll do something next weekend instead.

Today in addition to lunch with J I have church and some cooking to do.  Also, Me TV is going to have A Boy Named Charlie Brown tonight, and Snoopy Come Home next Sunday.  I'll try and catch both.

Going to be another cold day in the low 30s,  although at least the snow should stay away

G'day

Joe, hope you have a good lunch.  Happy birthday.

Stars, I'll say again how odd I find it you have no option to put him in an emergency detox.  I mean what do homeless people or people in crisis do?  I understand the rules about needing a doctor's order for rehab, but I'm talking about a few days of medically supervised detox inpatient.  I had an LPN friend here that worked at the one here.  He said he saw a lot of frequent fliers there. Anyway, sorry that on top of this there are struggles with Nannie which more than likely won't improve.

I texted best friend yesterday about going to see some sand sculptures today and haven't heard, so I'm head to the gym.  It's cloudy, "cold" and windy so at this point we'd decide against it.

Have a great day!

Hello all!

Tweety, indoor activities sound best, given the "cloudy, 'cold' and windy" conditions there!  Hi to your best friend!

Joe, what a long day!  My dh usually drives, when we go the 30 min to the apple-growing area, or the 1 hr to Disneyland, or the 1 hr to the recording studio.  And we are BOTH tired after a day of activity sandwiched by the driving (I do drive when he asks me to help out ? ).  Good you enjoyed the musical!

I watched some archeology programs last night, and (as I have had a sweet tooth for a couple weeks) baked a chocolate cake (with coffee in the cake and in the frosting).  Dh had a piece for breakfast, and though chocolate is not Number One on his list of likes, he did like the cake!  It turned out light (ALMOST dry, not quite), and didn't have a heavy coffee flavor, but just enough!  And, yes, I just had a small bite of it after breakfast!!

Today we were supposed to do music up at the apple ranch (it would have been an outside gig), but as it will be 55 degrees there, and dh's hands are more and more afflicted by arthritis (which is worse in cold temps), we bowed out and gave the gig to our bassist and his friend J, both award-winning guitarists and great entertainers.  We will take them out to an early dinner after the gig, and visit/chat then.  Our cut-off for playing instruments is 62 degrees.  Any cooler and, though there are space heaters around, our hands just get too cold to function.  I am OK, as I use a flat pick, but when dh plays banjo he uses metal finger picks on three fingers.  Combine the cold with the arthritis, and the fingers just won't do what he needs them to do.

Otherwise I don't have much planned today.  Have a good day!

I’m not supposed to take any more caffeine today, until I have a CT of my heart tomorrow. That’s going to be tough! I usually have coffee mid morning and tea in the afternoon. Oh well, I at least I don’t have to fast. I need to clean the house today in anticipation of Thursday—I’ve got lots to do the rest of the week.
Happy Birthday Joe! That does sound like  long, tiring day.
Hi Tweety, I miss belonging to  gym, especially in the Winter. But it’s hard for me to justify the expense.
I hear you Dianah, about cold, stiff fingers. Chocolate cake for breakfast sounds delightful.

Gouda Afternoon~

Gray, 43 degrees and slightly breezy, but no precipitation is predicted. It is siesta time at the "OMG" corral/den. The only sound is the oxygen condenser. I wonder if that noise is equivalent to the "brown noise" I've read about, which is supposed to be more relaxing than "white noise" recommended to help one sleep.

Teehee~ no laundry today! YAY!

Tweety, It makes sense that there would be 'emergency detox', but I never knew there was such a thing and no one has ever mentioned it to me. Hubby would most vigorously disagree to go to any emergency room; as drunk as he gets, he is as uncooperative as he can be on that score... he has no common sense in that state of saturation. But, anyway, he is not enjoying how his right eye feels (a lovely pale violet color), and when he reaches for his soda, he c/o the right arm being so sore. I said, not DUH, but merely, "Use your other arm." And imagine this...it worked.

The girl at the front desk in the doc's office can NOT make appointments (which is pretty stupid, because after you have an appt, they will schedule any follow-ups.) So I will not be arriving on the doc's doorstep in the AM. I think I mentioned he doesn't work on Mondays. But I will be on the phone to the "umbrella" operator for all the doc's offices which are connected to the hospital. She can schedule appts; I am going to ask for the first cancellation they get. I told hubby that if that meant getting up for a 9 AM appt, that's what he will do, period. It is still two weeks until his scheduled appt. and *I* want him admitted to rehab YESTERDAY!

If there is any room in your luggage, Tweety, I can curl up very small, and will pay for any overloaded luggage charges, and after arrival I will find a shady spot where I can sit and read, and I won't be any problem to you! (If only!)

I think the doc will say, as he has said to hubby before, he isn't 'mad' at him, but will express and re-iterate to hubby that if he falls and gets injured, it is important for him to go to the ER and get an x-ray or two of his right shoulder and rib-cage! To which hubby will say, "Yeah, I know."

Hubby is also coughing a lot more and we wonder if his pleura has filled up again or if he has bronchitis again. Every time he has a problem coughing up phlegm, Nannie will ask him if he is going to go to the doctor to get it taken care of. He explains to her that he has COPD and emphysema, which is what his father died of; and she makes a face and shrugs as if she doesn't really understand that what hubby has is NOT curable.

Soon it will be "What do you girls want for supper?"-time. UGH.

I wish I had more in my life to talk about besides drunks and dementia-ittes.
