Tweety I normally fast for about 16 hours, which is probably too much

NJ22 glad the birthday part went well without any tensions

Stars I can see how that would be dull.  Hopefully dh becomes a bit more lively once he's done with the Librium

Forgot to set the clocks back and woke an hour early.  Set the clocks back and tried to sleep for another hour but not sure I succeeded

There was no bird watching yesterday, was an intermittently rainy day with high wind warnings.  But it worked out,  got the blood test done, then did laundry and made the ranch beans for the church potluck today.  Had lunch with dad then came home and exercised and worked on knitting before watching Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein on Svengoolie.  One of my favorites

And too some time to review my life a bit and my history of relationships.  Nothing decided yet but now that I'm focusing on this I am getting more insights

Today made bacon and eggs because I had time  and the blood test is past.  Have plenty of time before church because I already did the laundry.  Which is good, as today church will be at 9 rather than 8 and 10.   It's All Saints Day, and since we're All Saints Church we're having a special service and the potluck.  Have to be there a bit early as I'm the assisting minister

Rest of the day should be quiet, if the knitting group is meeting I'll join then for an hour.  Will exercise.  Might call J before he gets busy getting ready for his trip

Will be in the low 60s today and a bit windy

Good morning!

Joe, 16 hours for fasting labs is too long but no harm I guess, unless it skews your fasting glucose.  Hope you have a good potluck.  Ranch beans sounds good.

J22, glad there didn't seem to be family drama at the get together.

Stars, too bad they didn't have the librium for him to continue the taper but at least he has Xanax.

The city started a shuttle from the beaches to downtown across the peninsula and the first six months are free to ride.  Best friend seems very excited at this so we are going to take it today.  It will save us money for parking.  There is a bus stop a block from his house.  A good chance of rain this afternoon so I'll bring an umbrella.  Supposed to get up to 86.  It's been hot lately.

I mowed the grass yesterday and went to three stores for groceries.  I like the local health food store for some things, and Trader Joes for others, and then the main stream grocery store for others.

Yikes! I forgot to set the clocks back! Be back after I do that! (Good thing I read Joe's post!)

Okay, got all but 2 of them (heavy clocks in the den). When I tried to put the clock back on hubby's wall, I missed the nail it was hanging on, the clock dropped on the little decorative shelf that was below it, and that fell off the wall. It was one of Nannie's little decorations we hadn't moved since we moved in. No biggy, as she never goes upstairs any more.

Nannie is sleeping in her recliner, and her bed was made but not wet. I couldn't find hubby at first; he was nowhere in the house. When I went out to the mailbox (forgot to get yesterday's mail) I did not see hubby in either my car or his "man cave" (Ford)...but when I got up on the front porch I went to the end and leaned over and could see hubby sleeping, in the passenger's seat laid way back. So, all present and accounted for.

It is 73 and overcast, sprinkling. Last night I fell asleep to a heavy rain on the roof, a pleasant and soothing sound.

Saw a groundhog in the neighbor's front yard, but it was half the size of "our" groundhog. Ours is encased in a LOT of fat! I suppose he is eating the fallen acorns.

Hoping for a DULL quiet day.

Interesting turn of events.....all my sibs and I are shooting emails back and forth comparing what we remember about our childhoods, and all the things kids go through, and events singular to our family. It is actually FUN. And more than we have communicated in YEARS!

It's cold and rainy. It snowed a little this morning.

It is 3:30 PM and hubby has gone to get our supper! Guess his brain is still operating on his organic time-still-not-felled-back, rather than the clock's "new" time. Oh well, I can still eat, since I've only had a cup of coffee so far today.

Hello to all!

Tweety, how fun, to take the shuttle!  I saw a FB photo of G, he looks good (great smile, as always)!  And, of course, when out, one MUST eat out!  The beach photos are beautiful!  Do you ever hear of 'gators in your area??  I hear about them, as they are indigenous to Florida, but am not sure just what areas they inhabit.

Joe, how was church, as you were assistant minister?  Sounds like you have a busy day planned.

nursej22, did you ever exit the cuddly fleece blanket?  Thanks for news of your sister, good she is doing OK with the injury.

No Stars, what was for dinner??  Boring might actually be preferable to tons of drama, yanno!  ?

Yesterday we arrived at the hotel around 1230.  Check-in was supposed to be at 4pm, but we checked in at the desk, and were told they will page us when our room was ready.  Apparently, with the bluegrass group, and a wedding/reception, they were at capacity.  It consisted of several two-story units, surrounding two open, grassy areas.  East area contained the swimming pool and lobby, West end was just a large grassy area with a gazebo in the middle.   Our 24/7 jamming area was the West end, and when we arrived there were several jams going (some folks had been there since Thursday!).  We visited and then played a little, and were notified at 3pm that our room was ready.

Room was a second-story room, and balcony overlooked the West grassy area, so from our balcony we could check out the jams!  We met up with our bass player E, and a friend J, and went next door to the fish restaurant for an early dinner.  THEN we broke out the instruments!  Played in a couple nice jams, caught up with some ppl we hardly see (except at the bluegrass festivals).  Went to bed around midnight.  Got up at 8, I ate a light breakfast from the hotel offerings (a "food court"), and then we jammed some more in the gazebo.

We left for home around 2, and are home now safe and sound.  It was all very enjoyable!

The jam we found on Saturday night was about 8 VERY high-level players (our bass player E and our friend J, included in that!), playing in a conference room on the East End, in which workshops had been held, earlier in the day.  It wass warm and quiet, and nice for a jam.  Dh and I played (I played in the background, it was good for me to keep up my calluses and to keep up with the songs).  Lots of fun.  Around 11pm, a security guard came in the room and asked if we had permission to play in that room, that late.  One of the group said we were not aware that we needed permission to play in the conference room.  The security guard (Aaron) said we have permission to play 24/7 on the West End, but not here.  We later found out some of the doors linking the conference room to the bar and the food court and to a wedding chapel, are not able to be locked, so they (understandably) didn't want ppl in any of those areas.  So, we vacated the room, chatted with Aaron (who turned out to be very friendly - gave me a tour of the now-closed food court, and the wedding chapel!).  It was a good jam while it lasted!

Temperatures really weren't bad, about 58.  We had come prepared for cooler weather (to our thin SoCal blood), and it wasn't bad at all, to jam outdoors.

Again, it was very enjoyable.  As always, met new friends, chatted with long-time friends.

And now we're home, and I'm tired.  The car is unpacked, and dh has fed the cats, who seem to have done well in spite of our absence.

More another time.  Have a good evening!
