Good morning!
Joe, sounds like a fun evening.
Stars, I'm glad you're not alone and getting at least some help here and there, but understand it's tedious and depressing.
I remembered to put my clocks back.
I didn't get a lot accomplished yesterday and that's okay. I did go to the gym, grocery store and hung a picture in my living room. Started watching Season 4 of Witcher that just started on Netflix.
I'm a little annoyed with the online book club I'm in. I didn't get the book for November and I paid for it and they say it's shipped and can be tracked but there is no tracking number. I'll have to wait probably until tomorrow to hear back from them.
First world problems.
Today I'll go to hot yoga at 11:00 and not sure what else after that.
Hope you have a good day.
The weather is partly sunny. I was hope to ride my bike, but the chain has come off and is wedged in a way that neither I nor my youngest son can dislodge it. Eldest son, who does some bike work will stop by to look at it tomorrow. Otherwise, it will have to go to the shop. So I walked the dogs instead. I saw some more interesting mushrooms, and I forgot to post the photo of a heron I saw yesterday.
Im going over to the demo garden shortly to put up some more rabbit barrier. The little menaces chew on the rose canes during the Winter.
I told myself I was going to wash the outside of the kitchen cabinets today. I am still trying to motivate myself. Dh is cooking his breakfast, and there isn't room for both of us.
Hello all!
Thanks for the photos, nursej22! Handsome heron! Now I need to go look up cranberry pumpkin ginger scones recipe, that sounded good! I will often do substitutions, -- a necessary thing if I don't want to go to the store for *that* particular item in a recipe. Leek soup sounds good.
Glad you enjoyed the gala, Joe. Sounds like a busy evening!
Dh and I finished the seasons of Brokenwood Mysteries (we will miss the show and characters!), and started Murder Before Evensong. It is one season and when we finished all the episodes, we were left with a cliffhanger! And no word on whether it is even renewed!! It is based off one of three books written by a reverend, so I purchased the first book and now I need to find out what happened!!
After Murder Before Evensong, we started watching Foyle's War last night. We'll see how it settles. Some (like Murder Before Evensong, actually) are a little too dark; we prefer some lightness here and there -- comic relief, if you will -- so it's not so dark.
I slept in, after FINALLY getting to sleep sometime in the early a.m. But we "got an extra hour" of sleep, so that's good. I may need to run to the store today, we are low on apples and I need a couple things for my salads.
Have a good Sunday, and congrats to the Dodgers!
Today Tinker and I scared away a squirrel. a cat, and something she saw but I didn't see. She got so excited the last time I put on her harness to take her out, that she jumped onto and over the coffee table and knocked so much stuff off it, but I'm glad she missed the full sippy-cup!
Nannie has been relatively quiet, except for the endless fiddling with her large, long, cardigan sweater. I have been shown her sleeve lengths 😳ovah and 🙃ovah and 🙄ovah! Her short-term memory has become even shorter. It's nice she is so interested in 'fixing' her sweater, but frankly *I* don't care to "look!.....see?" any more. She no sooner gets it 'fixed ' one way, then she has to re-arrange some other part of it. I mean, really, like, OY! Today she asked me "What is this?" I told her it was her sweater, and now she has called her sweater her 'leather'. Tossed word-salad is becoming more frequent. And Friday when I drove her home and brought her inside. her butt had not even settled completely on her chair when she looked out and saw my car which she had just gotten out of and she said, "Are you taking me out somewhere?" Oh, honey, I wish I could, but 'taking out' our elders is against the law! ....(I did not say out loud.)
It is only 5 PM (yes, I did turn the clocks back last night) and it is already starting to get dark-ish, and the news isn't on for another hour. Not sure what I will prepare for Nannie's supper; last night I gave her one of her 'favorites'....p'butter and banana slices, potato chips, chocolate pudding, and one of those Little Debbie's chocolate-fudge dessert cakes. (ick) Just now, with the sofa-side light shining on me, she saw my reflection in the door-glass and said something about 'her' out in the yard, and when I stood up to go close the drapes, she said, "Here she comes now...."
I am starting to get tired of the Word-Search puzzles; in the past month I have completely completed 2 fat puzzle books and had to buy another one yesterday lest I 'run out' of things to occupy my brain, Actually, word search requires less thought than cross-word puzzles. It just gives my eyes something to look at besides Nannie fiddling with and rearranging her 'leather'.
Time is dragging on, and I just can't WAIT for the news to come on so I can explain everything she misunderstands ... which is 3/4's of the broadcast!! It's a thousand wonders I have not become totally BERSERKER as the days go on. I know, I know, I've been balancing on the edge of that for quite some time now! OOooooh WELL!
No Stars, Nannie goes to 'day care' tomorrow, yes? I hope the evening is quiet for you, not so crazy with word salads and "look -- see?" 's. I usually prefer crosswords to word searches. Do you have any books lined up to read?
It's warm out (in the 70's) but overcast. I went to the little Farmer's Market and got some veggies, then got a few things at the grocery store. Once I got home, I decided it was time to wash the car, so off I went. It's a drive-thru, and they offer "free" vacuums and towels to use for the post-wash drying. I just returned, and the car is looking much better. As soon as I walked in the door, dh looked up and said, "You know it's going to rain now, don't you?" (not really, but that's our joke, that whenever I wash the car, it rains) I need to make more soup for us to have in the evenings. Will probably get that started in about an hour, after he feeds the cats.
Tomorrow I need to drop off the property tax bill and check, will get that prepared soon.
I am mentally preparing for Thursday's trip to Carlsbad, for a festival held at a little motel there. House-sitter/pet care for the cats is all arranged. Doggy will come with us. Dh is really looking forward to this. I do want to bring some food with us, so we can make sandwiches or have string cheese snacks, or whatever, so we are not entirely dependent on buying all food while we're gone. We'll see how much room there is in the car, too, once the instruments are loaded (string bass, banjo, guitar, mandolin, jam chairs) -- doggy's crate needs some room too, as well as the few things we will bring (changes of clothes, toothbrush, etc). Oh, and I need to put together a Christmas set list, we have two gigs in early December... Apologies for the stream-of-consciousness post!
Have a good evening!
Got all those dishes washed last night, thank goodness! I was intending to get up earlier but we know that is not one of my best things. So, now I have time to get dressed and remake my bed. Still haven't put any of the clean, folded clothes away. I also have to walk Tinker. The vet's office said I could bring Tinker over to have her nails trimmed between 8 to 12, and 2 to 5. Guess I have already missed the first option since it is 11:45 and I am trying to wake up, but can't get over there within a 15 minute time frame. One of her rear leg dew claws is practically wrapped around the pad beside it, kind of like a "C" circling an "O". Gotta get that taken care of! There are lots of things I can do in the meantime, but I don't have them listed in my brain/notebook. I am sometimes too good at dragging my feet (and brain!) to avoid doing anything at all. That kind of 'rebellion' is of no help to me. I hear "Just Walk Away, Renee" in the background of my mind.....(except my name ain't Renee) I am too 'good' at walking away from my own needs and wants. Well, no sense in dawdling here and covering the same ground I always do.
Time to pray for another miracle again!

Hi Tweety
NJ22 that does sound like an interesting recipe
Stars sounds like a productive day, hopefully it was a pretty quiet one too
Went out for a walk in the morning, didn't see any birds but had a nice walk. Afterwards met dad for lunch as usual
In the event drove into the city to the conservatory for the gay group's fundraising gala. Was a nice event, cocktails and dinner and dancers and drag performers and auctions. Stayed for about three and a half hours and was starting to fade, so I then drove home
Today will go to church early as I'll be the assisting minister and the bishop will be there. The minister wants everyone helping with the service to come early to discuss the logistics. Rest of the day should be pretty calm, planning to exercise and do some cooking
Will be in the mid 50s today, rain in the morning but otherwise clear
