Hi Nighttech and Tweety

NJ22 glad you got some sleep

Stars glad you will get a break from her today

Ado good that he takes responsibility for her

Yesterday was busy.  Went to the farmer's market, got some donuts, was looking for carrots but no one was selling any, which was odd. Then took the train downtown for the protest, was so crowded I had to stand in the aisle and the vestibule all the way there.  Was only there an hour before my back began to act up, so I went back home, train much less crowded.  Then drove to a small dinner party for one of the over 50 group's organizers, she was celebrating 1 year with the group

Today will be less busy.  Will skip church and go bird watching instead.  Then will go out to lunch with Dad, which will also be a Father's Day celebration.  Then likely will do some cooking

Will get up to about 80 today

Good morning!

Joe, our protests here were crowded.  Traffic was bad and it was hard to find a place to park.

J22, I'm very left handed and would have difficulty loosing my dominant side.  Thankfully when I had shoulder surgery it was my right.  I heard it's good for the brain though to switch sides but I rarely use my right hand except like know when I'm eating I'll switch the mouse to the right hand which seems to be easy as that's how I learned but I mostly use the mouse with my left hand.

Happy Father's Day!

Got up at 4:30, got a cold water, and struggled to fall back asleep.  Around 5:00 I got up and fed Waffles.  I was able to eventually get back to sleep.

Went to hot yoga and Trader Joes and another store.  Shopping while hungry I got a TJ's Spanish omelette (with eggs and potatoes) and am having that for lunch now.  It's pretty good.  Had to put some hot sauce on it.

I may or may not mow the yard today.  Supposed to only get around 86 here but your humidity makes it worse.  But it has to be done.

89 'feels like' 98 (!) and the humidity is 78%....may rain in early evening.

Woke up at 11:30 AM and after I got up my poor ol' right lower back started hurting again, so I slapped a capsaicin patch on it and got dressed. Was making my coffee when SiL drove up in the back yard; she gave Nannie a shower and then took her out to get her mani and pedi done. The nail polish color it so neon bright that it will put your eyes out at 12 ft distance! But, SiL says I will go with the wedding outfit she bought for her. I don't care, but I have had to tell her several times since she came back to STOP putting her fingernails in her mouth....no chewing, gnawing, and no scraping at the edges of her nails with her teeth! NADA!

Anyway BiL also came over to replace all the door locks, deadbolts and doorknobs on all doors, which all have the same key to unlock all of them. We will each have two keys 'just-in-case', so a loss of one key won't be a big deal! It's not like there is anything in here worth stealing, and it is a very quiet neighborhood, so I never minded leaving the doors unlocked when I went out somewhere. But each of us having keys will mean I don't have to wake up early to unlock the doors before SiL gets here to take Nannie to daycare.

The Bath-Fiitters are supposed to come on Thursday, and SiL said she will change Nannie's day at the Sr. Ctr. to Thursday so she won't have to be here, and more importantly, she will be where there is a bathroom she will be able to USE while the work is going on.

SiL also came up with a better idea for rearranging the den's recliners and loveseat sofa, so I can see if Nannie is trying to secretly crawl out of her chair with the footrest still up. Then SHE won't be facing ME, but can still look out the glass doors, and same for me.... I will be able to see her, but I will NOT be her sole focus of 'entertainment'  with the new arrangement. And *I* won't have to be looking to my right just to see the TV. It has always bothered my neck to always have to turn that way, but I learned to adapt. I'm excited; I love to move furniture around but have never been able to change the arrangements because hubby protested and he had to have things look a certain way. He was 'fond' of a more catalog-looking arrangement, you know, matchy-matchy. You could say I am quite a bit more eclectic than he was.

It is now 2:40 PM and my stomach is thinking of one of those nice cans of WILD PLANET tuna.... one kind has white beans, another kind has red beans, and a third kind has pasta, and I like all three! Easy-peasy to fix (pop the top off the can!) and a good amount without it being too much. Prolly has more sodium than not, but still, it is healthier than some things I might eat, because I am not much on cooking anything any more. I am just as likely to eat cold leftovers that are sitting in the fridge, which is not always 'bad', but they often include not-finished fast foods, which are not always 'good' for me as a constant diet. Oh, wait a minute! I do have a cobb salad up there....maybe I'll eat that now instead of the tuna. Good call, Stars!

Gosh, I am sooooo missing Momo, hundreds of times a day, for hundreds of different reasons. *sigh*.  I don't want to get another pet this soon, however. SiL mentioned that when I felt ready "we" could go to a shelter to pick one out. Ya, but there ain't gonna be no "WE" about it, just "Me, Myself, I"  (my favorite Joan Armatrading song.) First I want to see what happens to come my way by chance. It has to be something older, mellow and house-trained. I love kittens and puppies but I don't have the energy to deal with their first several years, filled with training, and discouraging bad habits, like chewing up stuff, etc. And I don't have any one breed in mind. I never thought I would love having a Chihuahua, but it turned out I did! But the personality and intelligence is important, and I like an animal that engages in eye-contact-communication.

Enough for now. Nannie is fighting dozing off. Where's the sledge-hammer when ya need it? Nope, it'll be safer for me to just do some crossword and word-search puzzles, and it ain't near as bloody as swinging a blunt-edged weapon. (I know, I watch too much TV and read too many crime-fiction books. ) Besides, I just don't feel like going to jail....I know it would actually be MUCH worse than the 'jail' I am in now! Now, there's a bit of proper perspective!

............................................................. So, laydah, youse guyz!

HUGS to you as Momo passed over the Rainbow bridge,  When your ready to look for a little one, I can vouch for this east coast LITTLE PAWS DACHSHUND RESCUE.   My dachshund Moses joined our family last September -- had to do a video interview with them after checking my references,  forms and medical info received via email and cost was reasonable.  They checked up afterwards to make sure he was doing well; his foster Momma and I still text periodically with his latest crazy antic picture.  The other rescue I foster with is poor with communication --has my diabetic dog in medical unit to adjust insulin after losing 1 lb + BS> 400--no word in 2 weeks hows he doing.

You were a loving Mom from your writings: FOUR spots on the bed (I allow 1)! .  He was so cherished and the place in your heart for him will always be there.

Sunny, but not even up to 70 today. I worked in the garden, and bathed the dogs. They were very unhappy about that, but they were stinky! We met our adult children and the grands for dinner to celebrate father's day and youngest grand's birthday. He is 14, and about 6 inches taller than his momma. They are getting ready to leave for a trip to San Francisco and Yosemite.

We dropped our pickup off at the shop to see if they can locate and diagnose a weird, intermittent  sound it makes. The dealership couldn't find it. We hope to avoid any mechanical issue when we go camping next week.

Tomorrow someone is coming to repair the garage door opener. When it got installed last year, they attached some of the brackets to drywall instead of a stud and its pulled out. That needs to get fixed before we leave because the door won't close.

We seldom lock our doors, except when we go on vacation. We don't have anything with any value. We live pretty simply. I like to spend my money on experiences and my garden.
