Ado  I think a lot of nurses have issues with that same type of patient

Stars dang that is a lot of laundry to do in a day

Tweety that patient made a foolish decision but what can you do

Hi TMB

Went outside yesterday morning but wasn't out long as it was rather cold and snowing, and there were hardly any birds

Went and bought some Winter boots, as my current boots didn't do well in the snow.  Had lunch with dad, exercised, and watched Svengoolie, the movie was OK.  Got some dough started to bake bread today,  have made a few modifications to the current recipe

Today will do the cooking before church and will do the baking once I'm home from church.   Will be assisting with the service again.  Don't have much else to do except exercise and work on the dating profile

Another day in the mid 30s, thankfully no snow, although there will be snow for several days next week

Yippeeee! They are coming over to move my bed, in a short while, into the bigger room. I have the pathway cleared, and I bundled up the bedding and pillows. SiL is going to 'do' Nannie's hair again, which will give me time to remake the bed, and straighten up some more. I will trundle some boxes and stuff to their various spots down into the 'formal' livingroom, which looks like he!! with all the things piled in there for distribution to other places and people.

Okay, Nannie is up and has had her meds and breakfast, so I am going to do a few more things before they get here.

Stars, you are on fire, an inspiration.

I'm gonna take a nap after all that work you've done.

tmb, I AM on FIRE! w00t!

Once the bed was in place I brought Momo up there and set her on the mattress while I made the bed, and she was hopping all over the place, all excited....especially when I put her little baby blanket and the fuzzy little squeak-baby she sleeps with, under the covers. Then she KNEW it was our bed!

BiL and SiL also took the old twin box Spring and mattress out to the trailer to bring to the dump. I have more things to put in the trailer as well. Some of it has to sort of be sneaked out past Nannie, but actually she has not had a problem with what's gone out the door, probably because she doesn't realize the scope of the changes going on! If there's anything she might not want to see us getting rid of, I take it out the front door. Good thing she never goes upstairs any more, as she might be horrified at the state of things up there. On Thursday after she gets off work, SiL is coming over to get Nannie, so I will have several hours by myself to putz and putter at will.

Thank you for taking your nap for me ??

Stars, you truly are an inspiration! I am actively thinking about grabbing a box for donations, LOL. I've just come in from doing a little clean up in the yard: cones, dog waste, and a little bit of pruning, enough to fill the garden waste tote. I frittered away yesterday, napping and watching Netflix. We went out to eat dinner at a local diner. I had somosas and treated myself to a glass of porter. Boy, did I sleep after that! I should go for a walk and take advantage of the cool sunshine.

In regards to Tweety's hypertensive patient, it reminded me of a nice woman we treated for TB. She had poorly controlled DM, that was made worse with the TB meds, because of interactions. Her PCP was reluctant to increase her insulin, because the lady struggled to keep follow-up appts. Her vision was affected, and possibly had neuropathy. It was hard to watch, knowing the possible/probable outcomes.

I wear my hiking boots in the snow. They're warm, water resistant and have good treads.

Yes, Annie, confused patients who are determined to leave are a challenge! My old employer cut way back on "chemical restraints" and they routinely pulled our aides to float to other units. My constant fear was that someone would try to escape via the stairs and fall. About the time I left employment they were starting to use enclosure beds that at least prevented falls.

Sometimes the "chemical restraints" work and sometimes they seem to exacerbate the problem. One of our doctors really wants to avoid them altogether. I was fortunate that it worked so well this time.

We are fortunate that *for the most part* Gma isn't a wanderer. Sometimes she is determined to go "home". She does take seroquel and it can make a big difference when she gets agitated and angry. I don't feel one bit bad about using it because it can't feel good to her to be so angry and worked up.
