Good morning...what's left of it.
Stars, sounds like an exercise in futility to monitor his drinking but I can understand not wanting to combine the Ativan with the booze. I'm sure he likes that feeling, but he shouldn't have both and it's unsafe.
Joe, you're better than me because I wouldn't have waited 30 minutes for a scheduled appointment like that. But glad you got your booster.
I stayed up late last night until about 1AM because I wasn't tired after the concert. Got up at 7AM and fed the dogs and went back to sleep and it was 10:45 and I was shocked it was so late. Guess I can't stay up that late. Now I can't decide to have breakfast or lunch.
Manhattan Transfer was really good. They mentioned they were up for a Grammy this year. I also learned that their style is "vocalese" (which is also the title of one of their albums) where they put lyrics to an existing jazz instrumental.
We tried a new vegan restaurant and it was really good. I got some Korean bbq tempeh. It was a relative big place with a bar and was surprised that it was pretty full. I was also shocked at the prices. We split a dessert and the bill with tip came to $80. They had a statement on their menu that they pay a livable wage which is why the prices are so high, and they added a percentage (small which came to $2.00) for their kitchen staff to split.
Onions is one of those things I loathed as a kid and teenager and would pick them out when I saw them. Sometime in my 30's I decided I liked them and now use them along with garlic in practically everything.
Tweety~ Holy Crap! $80????
Joe~ Yeah, I find that one has to be in the mood for something like "Singin' In The Rain"....it is so chipper and I-don't-know-what!
j22~ I hope you feel better today. I am too good at putting chores off until "later". It sure adds up by the time I get to any of it!
dianah~I am holding the line! He has kept his drinking to a moderate level, and I can hardly believe it. So 'funny' last night when he asked me if he could have some Ativan and I refused. He actually whined, "WHY?" (Duh.) I told him the doc said he could take a Xanax for sleep if he HAD to have something, since he's already been doing that and it hasn't killed him yet. Hubby said, grudgingly, that he guessed he would take a Xanax because he didn't sleep well the night before. He thought today was Monday, but NOPE! He gets to go to the doc tomorrow at 10:20 AM.
Nannie keeps remarking about how many birds are outside the back door and on the steps that go up to the deck we can't use. I just filled the feeder with "wild bird food', and then scattered the fruit and nuts mix on the stairs, so we are getting all kinds and sizes of birds, including several kinds of wood-peckers. They are one happy bunch of birds! Makes me feel good to be able to feed them when it is so cold like this. And at least...so far...we don't have to worry about bears like we would have up in Asheville. Haven't seen our groundhog, he must have started his Winter nap!
Found some frozen dinners that are accepted by hubby, so I am "cooking" (HA!) now. I was getting so sick of the range of foods the fast-food places have, and we could never decide where to go 'this time'.
Guess I will work on some puzzles in the VARIETY PUZZLES book I got at the store the other day. I hadn't been doing puzzles quite as often as I had been. I started up again, because it helps me focus on something that isn't Nannie or hubby or whatever TV show they are watching. It calms me down when they are irksome.
Later, guys!
Hi. I've got some energy today, although sleep was fleeting. I've been out doing some yard work. dh and and ds have started a project and left the washer&dryer pulled out of their space, so laundry is on hold. I have no idea when this project will be resumed or finished. We drove over to a beach/bird habitat yesterday to just get out of the house. I got a chuckle out of watching the gulls dropping clams on the rocks and then swooping down to gobble them up. We stopped at a cafe for dinner but it was just meh, which is irritating because of the expense. I'm going to make shepherds pie tonight. Mr. Stars being put out at not having his cake and eating it too is ironic. And I suppose speaks to his illness. I sincerely hope he gets the help you both need.
Annie, what a pain not to have water. It seems like every Summer when our little town does a street upgrade, the maps are wrong, the water mains get damaged. So we keep some extra on hand. It usually only for a day or two. Not like onions? That's just weird to me. I'm not a huge fan of red onions, but I guess I use them a lot. I love onion rings. But yeah, my dh is weird about new dishes, especially curry.
Water came back this morning well before 10. Of course it was like mud coming through the pipes at first but I think we kept it out of the water heater. Ran a cycle through the washer and dishwasher for good measure. As far as I know the hospital never lost water pressure.
Spent late morning/early afternoon with Twin B at the urgent care because he was having back spasms and pain after working all night. Now he is settled down with a heating pad and ibuprofen. I think he really needs to start getting regular exercise. And lose some weight. Pretty sure he has hit 300 lbs.
The birthday cake is in the oven where it has to bake for 1.5 hrs. Gma kept asking if I was going to give her some and I tried to explain that it won't be ready for some time yet. Now she's muttering that we'll kill her.
It was a pretty day. Twin A says the zoo was busy. But the wind has picked up and clouds have moved in. I don't know what the forecast is.

Tweety I think I have heard of Manhattan Transfer
Stars probably a good idea to hold the Ativan if he's drinking anyway
NJ22 by the end of yesterday I was pretty tired too
Dianah I thought about finding another hobby but with all that I'm doing already it's probably better not to add anything
Ado I hope the water is back on now
Was pretty cold yesterday for bird watching, and saw hardly any birds. Might be getting time to stop for the season.
Was annoyed that the pharmacy made me wait more than a half hour for my Covid booster. The pharmacist was still on lunch when I arrived. You'd think they would not allow appointments to be scheduled while the pharmacist was away
Rest of the day was fairly ordinary. Had lunch with dad. Ran some errands. Skipped the Svengoolie movie, tried watching Singin in the Rain instead, but got bored with that. So worked on my shopping list and read
Going to church early this morning to attend adult education, don't think I've done that before. After church will do the cooking and exercise. Not much else planned. Will some more reading about evangelism
Bit warmer today, up to 40
