Tweety that is awfully chilly for FL

Stars glad the lights didn't stay off for too long

NJ22 hope the snow and ice melts

Dianah I'm curious how this improvised topping works

Ado that is a good point you made

The morning was pretty quiet for me, didn't do much apart from get coffee and do some cooking for an early lunch.  Then drove into the city to help the gay group at the food depository.  Thankfully it wasn't a long drive, or a difficult task.  We were putting together kits of utensils and condiments.  Got to talk to people who I haven't spoken to much at previous events, which was good

Came home and decided not to exercise, after spending 2-3 hours on my feet packing stuff.  Watched Outlander and began watching The Marriage of Figaro.  Skipped Svengoolie as the movie was dull

Today will start chicken marinating before church.  My friend D will be preaching today so I wanted to be there (the gay group has its annual  meeting but it will be the same time as church)  After church will  bake the chicken.  Not much else to do, except exercise, finish the opera, and watch The Crown.  Though I do have to work on the shopping list for next week

Will get up into the low 20s today, I think the rain and snow should hold off until the week

Good morning!

Joe, hope you have a good day.  I'm sure your friend will appreciate your support.

Stars, hope your SIL comes through and showers Nannie for you.

Ado, sorry about your son losing out on that opportunity again. It sucks but sometimes rejection can lead to better things down the road.

I remember outside one of hotels in India when I was there in 2008 there was a large homeless camp.  Women were cooking outside and living in tents and poverty.  The guide said they actually weren't homeless but had homes in the countryside and they were workers for a construction project across the street.  They just couldn't afford housing while they were working.  Probably didn't make good money but at least they were working.  In Dehli there were a lot of men sleeping in the street on blankets.  They'd be washing themselves outside at some water station like place that had hoses.  Homelessness in India is a big problem but not as bad as some other countries.

Yesterday was a lazy vacation relaxing day.  Went to the beach for a walk but it was a bit chilly.  Got some coffee and the person thought I ordered two and had already rung them up so I brought a cup to best friend and we had a visit.

Today started in the upper 30's and is in the 40's now.  Really cold for us.  It's going to be in the 70's and 80's while I'm gone so warm up is on the way.

Have a great day!

Got up and found Nannie already sitting in her chair! Was wondering about SiL and she just called to say she is on her way over. I told her that we had just gotten up and I had not dressed Nannie yet, just gave her the yogurt and meds. She is going to do Nannie's shower and hair here, as it is too cold outside to go out and over to her house to do it. So, other than going out to get some milk, I will be upstairs in my rooms puttering and straightening up, and putting some pictures up on the wall. Oh, and I have to wash a sink full of dishes. So, I'm going to get to it...

Later, y'all-----

Hello all!

Joe, sounds like a good day!  The improvised topping was good -- not the same as the fried onions, of course, but it was good, and the overall casserole flavor was the same.  We still ate it down!!

Tweety, I'll bet George enjoyed his unexpected coffee!  And a chance to chat. ?

Ado, has your son asked about how he could advance?  What recommendations the staff might have for him?  Or, maybe this is a good opportunity to leave, yes.  I'm sure he is disappointed.

If it's going to rain here today, it better get to work making clouds!  Rain is forecast tonight and tomorrow, but none during the day.  Dh says his hands are really sore, so the humidity must be high.  I need to get to the grocery store for fresh fruit, and possibly some soup items so I can make soup later in the week.  It's nice to have our car back!

Have a good day and evening!

Someone here was c/o dry hands, can't remember who it was. I was going to recommend WELEDA Skin Food; it isn't terribly expensive and I think they have it at Walmart and Walgreen's.

So! SiL and BiL came over for about 3-4 hours. SiL did Nannie's bath, BiL put the screen back in the window in my new room. He asked why it was out, and I told him it was because his brother sat at the window and shot at the squirrels with a BB gun, to make them stay away from the bird feeders and suet cages.?

BiL also was down in the shed poking around and found an old metal bandaid box with stuff hubby had saved....old driver's licenses, pix of his dgt., wallet-size certificates for his truck driving licenses (health test, written tests, driving tests) and other things like his Masonic cards he got from 1986 to 1999, every year when he paid dues. He quit going in the early 2000's. I will enclose one of the cards with the tube his deerskin apron came in, and mail it back to his Lodge up where we used to live.

SiL started boxing Nannie's Christmas Village houses, and is going to sell them on-line. She also opened a drawer and found hundred's of cards dating back more than 25 years, so she ditched them. Also threw out some fake flowers that had 1/2 inch of dust on and looked terrible, they were sooooo old. Nannie didn't even blink while SiL was doing it. We ditched some old Christmas decorations, there were a LOT of them (and still more in 2 other closets, but we will attack those closets later) Nannie used to decorate the whole house, inside and out, at Christmas time. She did it for her husband who grew up with his siblings in an orphanage in Georgia, and they never "had any Christmas" to amount to much. We are only saving some of the decorations for any of the grand's who want 'em because of sentiment.

BiL told me he stopped at the Funeral Home to talk to them about Nannie's arrangements, most of which are already paid for. She's not close to dying, but having just gone through all the bureaucratic B-S we had to go through after hubby died, we figured it wouldn't hurt to get as much of the paperwork, etc., taken care of. Will only owe for opening the grave and planting the coffin, which BiL also picked out and paid for.

Oh! He also found a very old tattered copy of hubby's birth certificate! Now, I can call SSA and set up an appointment! w00t! I can then call the Health Dept in the town in SC where he was born and tell them to fughedaboudit, and tell them to return my check for $15. They were entirely USELESS!

This is a little embarrassing to tell, but it was kind of weird...Below the window where he used to sit, I found one of his teeth in the carpet. I thought, what is this? and was amazed when I realized what it was. He would get toothaches and then they would go away a few days later. His teeth were in terrible shape...like a lot of them had fallen out due to the alcoholism, or he had been being a  Do-It-Yourself Dentist!

Oops,I forgot to dash out for some milk, and I HAVE to have it with my bedtime snack!

Later, y'all!

I made it to the grocery store and to the HFS, for some vitamins.  Home now, and it still is not raining, though it looks like it wants to, but is unsure from which direction!  Clouds are amassing in the east and north and west.  Groceries are all put away, and we will have casserole for supper.  Rain should start later tonight.

No Stars, good you got some pottering time, and Nannie got her bath.

Later!

Joe, I'm sure your friend appreciated having you at the service. And Tweety, what a nice surprise for your friend yo have you show up with coffee!

dianah, good to have your car back. We haven't heard from the insurance company. Either Hubs or Twin A should give them a call.

Stars, Hubs is going to finalize plans for his mom, too, even though she isn't close to dying. My dad was a Mason and both my parents were active in Eastern Star. I was a Rainbow Girl.

The hospital census reached 10 (full) today for the first time since moving to the new facility 15 months ago.

An Air Evac crew out of Weatherford, OK, crashed yesterday when returning to base after a patient transport. The 3 crew members died.

Twin A was in good spirits today after talking to his supervisor about leaving the zoo. Of course they asked if there were schedule adjustments they could make that would let him stay. But I think he is going to move on. It's a long way to drive for a part-time job that has turned him down 3 times for a full-time leadership position.

A little bit of precipitation is falling and there will be more tonight with a low temp of 28. Then there will be rain for a couple more days with temps above freezing. I hear it is slick in OKC tonight. Hoping the roads aren't too slick in the morning as Twin B drives home from the hospital and I drive to it. He drove the pick-up truck.
