Happy New Year

Tweety I slept through New Years too

Dianah I'll email her again this week if I don't get a response soon

Stars I hope the gypsies go away again

NJ22 that sounds like a good goal for the new year

Hi NRSKaren, moving is difficult, I think my dad is still unpacking more than 2 months later

Fairly normal Saturday yesterday.  Went bird watching but didn't see much.  Did laundry, went out to lunch with dad, ran some errands, then stayed home for the evening to avoid the drunk drivers.  Had a little Irish whiskey and taste of champagne, before remembering I don't like champagne and switched to a red blend.  Watched Svengoolie and went to bed at my normal time

Got up at my usual time and meditated, then decided I was tired enough to try sleeping a bit longer.  Slept for less than an hour and had some weird and somewhat disturbing  dreams, so not a good choice

Made sausage and pancakes this morning, pancakes turned out better than last week's waffles.  Will go to church later today, dad might join if he doesn't have to take his girlfriend  to church, if so he might come next week.  Will also make muffins and find a movie to watch

Will get into the mid 40s today and tomorrow, hopefully rain will hold  off

Happy New Year!

Joe, sorry about the disturbing dreams.  Are you off tomorrow?

J22, glad you found some ear phones you like.  I don't like doing exercise without listening to podcasts or music.  It's too boring otherwise.

Stars, sorry the gypsies made a return.  Hope you feel better today.

Karen, congrats on the home redo.  How comforting it will be knowing you can age into a reliable home.

I fell asleep before midnight and didn't hear many fireworks.  I wanted to go see live fireworks but it was raining and the weather unreliable.

My phone decided to notify me at 3AM that it was putting some apps that I haven't used in awhile asleep.  Thanks for that.

Not much going on today.  I have a recipe for a Bengali tomato chutney and another or Moroccan preserved lemons I'm going to make.  I have plenty of beans and quinoa for a few days and some lentils and pasta so I don't need to meal prep.

Have a great day!

Floppy Gnu Ears!

I was awake for midnight but didn't watch any celebrations on TV. I was reading and since it was so foggy outside, I don't think anyone did any pyrotechnics anywhere near here; at least I didn't hear any.

These darn gypsies are plaguing my lower back, and I don't know what I might have done to encourage their return.

Got to go make myself a cup of strong coffee...

Later, y'all~

Oh my, We had our "quarterly" 20 minute visit by the other DiL and her grand-daughter who is 5 years old now. Most of the visit was DiL talking w/ g-dgt about what she was doing on the cell phone (word games). I told hubby we are now good for another 3 or 4 months before Nannie gets another visit from them. Just as well, because so far we have had to explain who the woman is and who the little girl is, at least half a dozen times in the past half hour. She thought the little girl was a boy (she had her long hair pulled back and Nannie said, "I can't believe she is not a boy.") And of course, as usual, because the other DiL has extremely short hair, Nannie often refers to as "that man." She is still trying to figure out where she knows "him" from. Nannie hasn't seen her other son for...8(?) years, it's hard for her to remember him in what little brain she has left functioning. She has jabbered for quite a while and it's hard to understand what she is talking about when she makes motions with her hands to fill in for the words she can't recall.and says, "Oh, you know...." We don't know, but we say "Ahhh" and "Oh" and "Hmmm."

Just now as she has been falling asleep she asked, "Are you talking to me?" (not like Robert DeNiro). No one is talking at all! She must be going into one of her conversational dreams. And she is also "sewing" her poncho with an imaginary needle and thread.

I wish I felt better, because I would like to get the den's rug vacuumed. However that would involve bringing that behemoth vacuum cleaner down from upstairs and wrassling with it. I am, one of these days, going to buy a small, lighter-weight vac, and if hubby doesn't like it, tough! He always says, "There's nothing wrong with that vacuum cleaner".....(he who never uses it anymore.) Ppfftt!

It is warm and sunny outside, and all the bugs are thinking it's Spring...Found a jumbo wolf spider in Nannie's bathroom sink. I generally capture spiders and put them outside, but this one wouldn't cooperate, so he got deaded. He really needed to go outside to eat all those bugs out there, but, OH WELL!

Happy New Year to all!

We are enjoying a rainy day, staying indoors, warm, and dry.  We watched an episode of Father Brown, as we ate lunch (leftovers).  I have a load of laundry in the washer, due to be changed to the dryer.  So exciting!

What IS exciting is the newest episode from Season 3 of The Chosen.  Available on YouTube after 4pm PST.  We are keeping up as they are released.  Such an enjoyable series!

No Stars, I hope those gypsies settle down soon!  And I'm with you: a LIGHTWEIGHT vacuum cleaner that you can keep downstairs, is quite a sensible purchase.

Joe, how was church?

Tweety, the leftovers we had was the last of the puttanesca sauce.  Still yummy!  You always have such interesting recipes!

Have a good afternoon/evening!

Hello all. I am struggling not to be irritated with dh today. I found out last night that he had invited family over tonight for dinner. I did not get the group text that he sent out, and he acted like it was my fault. So I knew I needed to clean up the house today, so I wanted to get to the diner before it got busy, so I could get home. He said he was coming but wasn't quite ready, so ds and I left to get a table. Then we got a text that dh wasn't coming after all (us leaving put him in a snit). So I have cleaned the entire kitchen, two bathrooms, vacuumed and dusted, washed sheets and remade the bed. And baked his birthday cake. While he watched football and has been saying for the last 3 hours he needs to go to the store. Dinner is 90 minutes, so he better get going.

I did not stay awake until  midnight, but it appears the new year arrived anyway. I only like champagne with orange juice, aka a mimosa, and heavy on the OJ.

Nannie sounds like my when I'm around dh's extended family. He has so many cousins that I struggled for years trying to figure who was who. And now they've changed so much, I struggle to remember their names until I hear their voices.

Yes, yes, yes! Get a new vacuum!

Nannie, during a news story about Pope Benedict's death and funeral:

She told us that "the woman there had told them there was a lot of extra weight they couldn't hold, so she said they had better get some of it out of there or things would turn out bad, you know."

Yup. Just thought y'all ought to know that news, in case it has a bearing on anyone's life!
