Stars glad that she has at least been quiet

Ado that's disappointing that it's still not fixed

Hi Tweety

Dianah thanks for sharing the recipe

Went bird watching, no birds seen but got in some exercise with all the walking

In the afternoon met dad for a belated birthday celebration for me.  His own birthday celebration has been delayed too so we'll celebrate that next week

Then in the evening drove downtown with that friend of mine from the gay group to the music event, it was a cabaret event featuring black performers, including someone from the group.  I found it quite enjoyable, a lot of blues/jazz/Motown music

Today have church in the morning, thankfully nothing to do during the service.  Will probably do the cooking before then, although given that it's a Greek salad with precooked shrimp there will be no actual cooking involved.  Will stop by the library in the afternoon but otherwise should be a pretty quiet day

Will be unusually warm today, in the low 50s, think it may rain a bit in the evening

Going to be 65 degrees today with a 57% chance of rain tonight, late, with some raining and possible thunderstorms during the next 3 days. We'll see.

I had a coughing spell around 5 AM, it woke me up worrying about the possibility of a sore throat and me coming down with a cold. I got up and took my personal "cold remedy" which is Vit C, Echinacea, and zinc. Taken at first signs of a cold, it usually knocks things out before they get started good. Had a half a cup of decaf and went back to sleep......but then:

I woke up to Momo doing her bark-dog duty at 6 AM. Went down to the den and put Nannie back to bed. Later, I woke up in a sweat, as the thermostat is still set on 73 because of the cold winds yesterday. I very much need a shower and shampoo, but since it is 12 noon in about 3 + 1/2 minutes, I wonder if I should go ahead and get Nannie up and dressed first? Such a dilemma. If I were to close my eyes and relax, I believe I could go back to sleep. The temptation is great. I even tried to go back to sleep but my conscience wouldn't let me, it kept saying. "You need to get up."

Okay. time to get serious at some point today! I STILL have not done the dishes after how many days? Geezo-Christmas, I am such a procrastinator, I should get a Gold Star for walking by the sink, thinking I needed to do something about it, and yet still doing nothing. SMH. Nannie asked me last night, "Can I help with those"? Uh, nope, sorry, no going up the stairs. And no telling what kind of job she would do. I'd prolly have to rewash them all!

Did I tell you that SiL said she would come on Tuesday and get Nannie up and take her away for the afternoon? Well she did tell me that yesterday, so let us hope it remains in the plans.

Guess I ought to get the Nannie person up and give her the breakfast and meds. Maybe THEN I will get in the shower. And maybe THEN I will wash up that awful pile of dirty dishes. Maybe, maybe, maybe.

So, several hours later, I am washed, trimmed, dried, and dressed. I trimmed my stupid toenails (I thought they were supposed to grow more slowly than fingernails!). In the process I managed to cut one toenail too short and bled. Wrassled with band-aids to try to cover the raw spot, and had to do it three times before I got the band-aids on right! It's a toe that curves under so there is no easy application of the band-aid. My SiL told me she had hammer toes which were surgically broken and had metal rods placed in them to keep the toes straight, and a few years later the metal rod started coming out the tip of her toe! YIKES! I am hoping that in a few months we will have a day off together and she can drive me to The Good Feet Store; I am hoping to get a couple of decent pairs of shoes that DON'T look like the omnipresent athletic shoes, and a few doodads to spread my toes and cushion between them, and good support for the fallen arches. GADS, this is part of aging I hadn't thought of happening, even though I worked with a podiatrist and saw many toes that were like mine are now getting. UGH!

As fascinating as the tale of my toes is, I'm gonna stop here and do some word search and crossword puzzles. It keeps me calm when I start to feel like jumping outta my skin, even if it is clean skin like it is now.

Imma sitting in the mall while returns to the Lego store . He looked earlier, gasped at the prices and we walked the mall. We had lunch at a Korean bbq. Not bad, but very meat centric. I'm going to stop at the spice store, and the toy store for a jigsaw puzzle. And maybe ice cream.

my cold remedy is hot water, bourbon , honey and lemon. Also known as a hot toddy. I only have it at bedtime, but it works for me. I had a coworker, a nursing instructor, who swore that straight shots of vodka would kill infections in the throat. I thought she was kidding at first, but she was serious. I never even wanted to try that.
I've driven enough junkers to make me think all overheating is due to a cracked block. I hope that is not the case for Annie's jeep.

Welllllllll, I gave Nannie her supper: linguini, with spinach, tomato, and chopped ham. She also had a fruit bowl, chocolate pudding and a Little Debbie's Chocolate cake, plus her usual cranberry juice.  I took her tray, after she was through, and brought it upstairs. Three to four minutes later I went back down to the den, and asked Nannie, "Did you have enough to eat?" and she said, "Welllll, no." I asked her if she wanted more supper and she said she had not HAD ANY supper! I told her what she ate (and she ate every scrap of it) but she didn't remember having just finished eating. That's not exactly surprising, but it is very SAD. I asked her if she was hungry, but she said she was not. No surprise there!

nursej22, dh SWEARS by Listerine for EVERYTHING!  Kinda like Windex in that movie, My Big Fat Greek Wedding -- only dh is not Greek, he is German; thus the Listerine rather than Windex, LOL!! (??  my theory only!! )  Oh, and did you get ice cream?  What flavor(s) do you like?

No Stars, at least you know Nannie ate, and ate well, even if she doesn't remember doing so!

Joe, glad you enjoyed the cabaret, I'll bet it was fun to see the various acts/performers.  Full of energy!

I baked more cookies.  Not doing much else, however.

Have a good evening!

We were just talking about hot toddies as a remedy at church this morning. LOL. I ended up helping with communion. We had the Gma sitter come to the house this morning so both Hubs and I could go to church since the boys were away. They have returned safely and seem to have had a great time. Hubs has been saying he'll sell the Jeep. There's a guy at the mechanic's that is interested. And Hubs actually has another engine for it. Apparently it is a "bad ***" Jeep, especially with that special engine. But I'm so tired of vehicles breaking down and being generally unreliable.

My lower back is having spasms. It seems to be always something these days. I did manage a shopping trip for baking supplies and some grub for the week. And Depends, wipes, and Boost for Gma.

Ugh, I hope you find some relief for the spasms.  Good the boys are home safely (what an adventure)!  I have a friend with an older Jeep, that is unreliable (the Jeep, not the friend!).  It will randomly stop running.  It's been quite frustrating for him, to say the least!
