G'day!
Joe, I hope J gets to feeling better so you can spend time together.
J22, I hope you enjoy the show. I watched a Youtube vid about him a while back. He's had his Vegas show since 2005 and it's been renewed to 2025. Who knew?
Ado, I hope that your stepson will be okay while waiting for all this red tape.
Stars, I hope you're not feeling any gypsies from all that hard work yesterday.
Got up real early around 4:45 and couldn't sleep. Went back to bed around 10:00 for an hour or so. Need to have lunch and then decide if I'm going to mow the rest of the yard I didn't get to yesterday or head to the gym.
Good day all!
Joe, what a LONG day!! Good your dad is out of the hospital, though, and you got the cars arranged. Hope J responds well to his med changes. Sometimes it's nice to change up the routine (watching church online rather than in person).
Tweety, is it the lawn mowing or the gym that won?? Hope the rest of your day is good.
We had a busy day yesterday, with the music, but it was a good day! Music went well, was well-received, and the whole campmeeting program was good. Then we met for lunch at a Thai restaurant: two pairs of friends, and dh and I and fiddler (she knows the friends from church). Had a great time eating and talking -- big range of subjects! -- and made plans to meet again in a month. At that time my friend S and I will bring a new cake recipe for the others to try. She will make one recipe of it, I will make another, and we will do taste-testing. ? And it will be held at C and T's house!
Dh had to be the first to leave, as we had left the house early in order to be at the church for a run-through at 8am. We arrived home at 4pm!! The cats were very happy to be fed, FINALLY! We had a quiet evening, which was nice for unwinding.
Tuesday I will take a friend to her GI appointment, and wait in the waiting room till she is done. I may be there from early in the morning till 3 or 4pm! Gotta be done.
Today is 'do a few chores' day. Hope you all have a good day!
? Pin a rose ? on my nose ?~
Another task-filled day!
I vac'd the upstairs except for my room, where I had to relieve the floor of its various boxes and piles before I can get all of the floor (carpet) vacuumed.
I had several piles of receipts and statements from the last year, which I have a habit of stacking or tossing in a box. Well! I got them ALL filed! Next thing will be to thin out those files so I can shred the out-of-date ones that don't need keeping. But that will be on another day.
I changed the filters for the AC/heat vents and vac'd the grill that is fastened over the front of them.
I gathered all the stacks of already read books and some clothing, and packed them in boxes, put them in the back of my car to donate to the women's shelter's store. They are like Goodwill, but ALL the $$$ goes to supporting women + kids who need a safe living space away from their abusive situations.
Sorted and hung up a bunch of clean clothes. Dumped all the recycling. Of course I dumped all of Nannie's 24 hour collection of used pads/pull-ups. ?
Cleaned the horrendous collection of cruddy dust from two of the ceiling fans. Four more ceiling fans to go, but not today!
My back aches from sitting hunched over the stuff I was filing in the bottom file-drawer, but it isn't the gypsies complaining. They pop up in my left knee at various times throughout the day, but I really don't stay in pain; just get twangs, twinges and the occasional aching.
While I was doing that, we had a tremendous thunder-storm and a really good, soaking rain. The usual Summer weather pattern. It's 90 degrees out there so I have no problem staying inside!
Nannie is so sound asleep, her head is back and her mouth hanging open so wide I wouldn't be surprised if a random fly flew into it. ("I don't know why she swallowed that fly...") But, I just had to wake her up because hubby went out to pick up supper. You know I am a good nurse who anticipates her patient's needs, so I told her to go to the bathroom before he gets back with the food. Nothing ticks me off more than having to interrupt a meal in order to help someone get up and go pee!
I think we lost last night's ballgame. There's another game tonight. w00t.
Anyway, supper is here, so I have to give Nannie her pills and drink (that's my job!) while hubby prepares her tray.
WHEW! But I am so glad to get some of those things taken care of, especially the cluttered mess in my room, because they have been weighing heavily on me. I like a neat room, but have trouble keeping it that way. For one reason, I am sorry to say, I tend to take care of everything else that needs attention before I get to myself. But today I got it done for ME! ??
Hello, folks. Having a laid back day here, I leave for the airport in a couple of hours to fly home. We really enjoyed the Carrot Top show last night. He made a lot of jokes about himself and reflecting on his long career. We did a little shopping this morning, then I went to play 21 for a while. I quit while I was ahead, for once. The other players and the dealer were a lot of fun. Then I picked up french fries and soft drinks to bring up to the room where dh is working. He is being taken out for a steak dinner while I go to the airport. It's hot again today, 106, so I skipped going to the pool. I miss being outside, so it will be good to get home to cooler temps.
Wow, NoStars, that is a lot to accomplish. I have the same issue with hair in my vacuum, and getting it off the roller bar.
Joe, that sounds like a tiring day of hurry up and wait. Discharges seem to be an all day affair, but I know my local hospital wants the "ride home" available within minutes of finishing the paperwork.
Dianah, you sound like you had a long, tiring day as well. What sort of cake are you planning?
Ado, you are such a caring person to help your step-son. I hope he gets the help he needs.
Tweety, I fear my grass will need to be cut when I get home. Oh, well, it doesn't take long, I just have to make myself do it. And I know there is laundry I have put off waiting for the dryer to get fixed. Well, I am packing some right now to add to the pile.
Ta
Forgot to add that I filled and hung up the hummingbird feeder out at the back patio. Hubby used to take care of bird-feeders, but hasn't done so this year. When I was sitting outside yesterday afternoon, a hummingbird hummed his way over to about 2 feet in front of my face and hovered there, facing me for a moment before zipping off. The second time he did it, I said, well, I can take a hint! So I did. Now we are watching several of them chasing each other away from the feeder. Maybe I should put a feeder out front, too.
Great work, No Stars, pushing through to get your chores done!! And it's perfectly OK to do it FOR YOU!
nursej22, we are planning to bake a Key Lime Cake! We had some, years ago, at the Soul Food BBQ, and it was DEEEEEEEEE-licious!! So, after my recent success with the Fruit of the Forest pie (and partial success with Ugly Cake [ it tasted good!]), my friend S and I decided to make two different recipes and do taste-testing. That will be in about a month. Hopefully I can find key limes in the stores. // Safe travels to you! (I wouldn't go out in 106 degrees either!!)
Got grocery shopping done, and am making a one-pot pasta, for us to eat the next couple days.
Later!

Tweety that has become more common in the last month or two
NJ22 that should be an interesting show, didn't know he was still performing
Ado that's good that he's now OK with the attorney
Stars sounds like a productive day
My day started out fairly normally, went bird watching, noticed the number of birds has significantly increased in the last week
Had a light lunch then went to meet my sister at my dad's so we could move his car from his girlfriend's place back to his place. She was half an hour late in getting there. Before we left dad called to let us know he was being discharged, so we went to the hospital instead
And waited for a bit more than 3 hours for the discharge to be completed. And waited a bit longer for him to be brought downstairs to the entrance. The hospital was short staffed apparently. Then we took him to his girlfriend's place, he drove my sister back to his place so she could pick up her car and go home, I then drove home myself. I had left home around noon and did not get back until about 6:30
Talked with J, he's feeling a little better, he talked to his PCP last week, some changes were made to his meds including a new allergy med which will hopefully help, he's also doing more med setup to help insure he doesn't miss doses
Needless to say we were all pretty tired. I'm probably going to skip church this morning, I'll watch it online later. Thankfully I have nothing to do today except some laundry
I think it will be in the low 80s again today, with rain expected later
