Stars too bad your SIL wasn't there today.   Glad the casserole came out well

Dianah that's pretty good, not only to play but to compose music as well

Ado it's understandable why you'd feel worn out, after dealing with the IRS and bedbugs

Got going early to do some bird watching before going to the dentist.  My appointment there was more than 20 minutes late, but since it was just to make a mold for a mouth guard the appointment itself was pretty short

Rest of the day was pretty ordinary.  Had lunch with dad, came home and exercised.  Skipped Svengoolie as I find The Wolf Man dull, and watched the opera The Pearl Fishers instead, which was pretty good

Today will do the cooking for the week before church.  After church will go to a bowling event with the over 50 group, looks like only 3 people signed up.  Once home I'll exercise and then do whatever remains to be done before the week begins

Going to be warmer today, up to almost 60, although it is in the 30s right now

G'day!

Have a good day Joe!

Ado, so sorry about having to deal with bed bugs again.

In catching up with posts I noticed I misspoke the other day and I probably should clarify that when I said "I eat a lot of unrefined and processed carbs", it should say "unprocessed".  Processed carbs like donuts and candy are the devils food.   The point being is that my diet is carb rich.  Anyway......

Week three in a row of overtime done.

A new schedule starts today and I'm off and going back to the rotation of weekends off that I've had which is off this weekend.  It matters because I scheduled time off both in May and October based on this rotation of having every other weekend off.

I worked the floor with 6:1 patient ratio, discharged one and immediately got another.  I had a patient that triggered a sepsis alert, pulled out his foley and IV and needed an NGT, was short of breath and tachycardic.  I got some help from the rapid nurse but my day went downhill.  Finally around 4pm they decided to put him in ICU for a 3% saline drip.  His doc acknowledged that I was doing a good job but probably spent more time with him than my other five combined.  True that.  He said the man's wife was very complimentary of my care.

I called a doc around 5:30 to see if a hysterectomy patient could go as she was meeting criteria and she called back at 8:00 while I was still there so I discharged the patient to help out night shift and close the loop but I wasn't happy.  Left close to 21:00.

Would it be catty of me to mention that the nurse that took my charge shift had a nurse call off and had to take 6:1 ratio while being in charge?

Anyway, today I slept in and will de-stress some.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Fifty-six degrees and rainy today. Quiet day. Called SiL because when she called me early this morning I wasn't awake enough to remember what she told me about coming over this week. She said she will come over around noon tomorrow and stay until about 4 PM. She said she can come over on Tuesday about 3:15 PM for maybe 2 hours, but to tell you the truth I don't see any point in that. She said something about Friday afternoon, also, but I don't want to be out during rush hour on a Friday. (So, pardon me if I say Ppfftt.)  I'm not ungrateful, but a few hours here and there only gives me time to run around and do errands and I don't consider that 'time off'. Anyway, it is what it is.

Nannie wanted to go to bed at 3:30 PM but I wouldn't let her, then again at 5 PM. I turned on the TV and made her supper a little early, to distract her. At 7:40 PM she asked me "Do you have anything, like the time?" Then at 8 PM she raised the recliner and told me she was going to go to bed. Okay, fine by me, I'm tired of her anyway.

Partly sunny here, but there a some big black thunderheads forming over the mountains. We got a bit of rain last night, which was nice to wash some of the pollen out of the air. I've laundered the sheets and put them back on, still waiting for the duvet cover to get dry. I was outside working in the yard, dumping out dead flower planters and replanting, re-pruning my poor half-dead roses, and pulling the ever present weeds. I had a nice visit with a new neighbor, but I forgot to ask her name. She is living in a house behind us that we almost never saw the occupants. This new lady said her adult children will be arriving soon from Malaysia, and her nephew will be staying with her for the Summer. That should liven up the place.

Yes, Tweety, in my mind I tend to think of sweets as toxic due to the ill effects of the simple sugars. I do love donuts, but I don't love how they make me feel. When I eat carbs, they are from multigrain breads, vegetables and fresh fruits. I try to think of my food as sources of vitamins and minerals, and there aren't many of those in sweets.

I'm so glad the work is done on the outside of the house. One fellow was finishing up some painting yesterday and left the gates open and the dogs got out. Luckily they didn't go far, mostly to visit a neighbor's chickens.
