Summer Nurse Tech Programs in California

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi! Does anyone know if any hospitals in California ( esp around LA) offer nurse tech programs? I live in DC and we have some at the hospitals around here, but I haven't been able to find anything similar in California.

I am looking for something that can be done after the first semester of clinicals as a sort of internship experience. Or any type of internship program in fact. I am looking ahead for next summer. I've searched high and low but can't find anything-- is it called something else?

Many thanks!

search on hospitals' employment websites... where i work they're called "healthcare partners" or "nursing assistants". good luck! :)

Students from specific nursing programs are encouraged to apply to work as student workers in the summer. Each program has a specific hospital where they go to work under this heading - this is due to very clear agreements between the school and specific hospital. I am not clear if all RN programs have this type of agreement but Pasadena City College, LA county, Moorpark, and I believe LA Valley's programs do.

If you are in a BSN program and will be entering your senior year, UCLA offers a 6-week summer externship. You can find details on their website under "employment" around mid-September.

I had written to UC San Diego last spring to inquire about internships or something similar and they said they did have some kind of program. You might check with them -- I sent an e-mail and got a very quick response.

Good luck!!
