Remember you are only expected to apply basic knowledge of nursing safety, standard and practices=Application of Knowledge base by appropriate decision making. Ex. priority tasks such as when applying your ABC's. If you prepped, you'll pass!Good Luck..

The only thing I wasn't prepared for was BP on kids. Make sure you have a general idea. They also ask a lot of questions where you have to prioritize. Get in your mind which patient would need help first, and which one can wait.

Have a low fat high protein breakfast because high fat slows your thinking. I ate oatmeal with raisins. Your brain works on sugar, so take Gatorade in there with you and drink that while you work.

I expected my test to take HOURS. The computer shut off after 45 minutes. I passed with flying colors! I hadn't studied and I hadn't taken any review courses. You know this stuff. You'll do fine! Good luck to you, Lisa!

Thanks to all of you who replied... I took the test yesterday and I have to say it really wasn't what I expected. For instance, I had only one drug side effect, and it really suprised me not to see any kind of math problems.. I did have a lot of what patient would you see first.. I did 85 questions in about 1hr45min...I have to say quite a few of therapuetic questions and pysch questions were on it... I sort of feel that it was quite simple......but the question is..... is that a good thing or a bad thing?? I guess I'll see when the results come in.

No way to tell. I took my boards (lpn) on Friday, March 31. It took me an hour. I thought that I had failed for SURE. I found out yesterday, that I PASSED!!! I was told over, and over, that a short test time means that you did really good, or really bad. I think that you can't know for sure. If you studied for month before the test, you probably know your basics, and did ok.

the nclex review book is great. just review the sections you feel you need too, then apply commom sense and logic. Remember your ABC's and Maslows Hierarchy's. The get a good nights sleep. Think positively.YOU will pass! BREATHE!!!!! Good Luck!!!! you will do fine.Anxiety is the biggest enemy.Relax its all in there.....:)

Just a heads-up that this poster took the NCLEX almost four years ago. I, too, hope that she passed though.

Linda - The NCLEX is a nationwide exam that doesn't vary from state to state - what is different from one state to another is the length of time that it takes for NCLEX results and license verification to be released.

Regarding the passing standard, all testers get about 50% of the questions right. The computer will adjust the level of difficulty to keep you around 50%. It's that difficulty level that determines the pass-fail. If a person is missing 50% of what the computer considers to be very easy questions, that's not good.
