I adore 'Rapid Interpretation of ECG' by Dubin. It's bright orange.... can't miss it!

There is one written by Gail Walraven that is really good...it is Basic EKG Interpretation or something like that...I think Brady publishes it...

Dubin is the one you want.

yes! excellent book!

Classic Book. Used it when I was in paramedic school in 1977--been around a long, long time--updated several times since then--mostly, I think, as publishing advances have been made--more pictures, more color.

A lot of the EKG books out there teach how to recognize the different rhythms and ectopic beats but few seem to really discuss the ST-T variations that well. They do go over them but they don't go over the subtleties for diagnosing MI or non-Q wave MI. Of course that's for doctors I guess...but ENPs gotta know that stuff! The axis stuff freaks me out so I usually skip that chapter lol.

It's all about Dubin, baby. There is that minor detail that Dubin is a convicted and sentenced child molester but hey the book is a classic (I own a copy myself...)

He is!? Wow, that is news to me.

I've used Dubin's book and a few others and I, like zacarias, hate the axis stuff . . . .

The frustrating thing for me is that in order to interpret a strip, EVERYONE does it different. They start at a different point or count the little boxes in a different way . . . . it is so variable and it shouldn't be.

I actually hate cardiac rhthym strips . . . :uhoh21:

I've been looking at/intertreting cardiac strips for 14 years (EMT-D/EMT-P). I would be more than happy to help anyone who wishes it (at least as best I can via email :) ).

Dubin does it!

Depends on if one is talking 12 Lead or rhythm strip. Like the otherssay Dubin is a good book. Also taking a 12 Lead Interpretation course goes a long way as well, I took an all day one several years ago. It was taught by a cardiologist for a university hospital. He basicly told us for ER all one really needs is to be able to dx is acute MI, arrhythmias, and WPW as the wrong treatment can be detrimental.

Rj:rolleyes:
