Suffolk County Community College nursing prerequisites

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi everyone! I'm currently taking my prerequisites (just registered for AP2 and PSY 101) and hoping to get in for spring 2018. I went to a nursing seminar last winter and we were told that all we need for prerequisites is Bio 130, 132; Eng 101 and PSY 101, and Teas of course. But today as I was talking to one of my classmates she said that requirements have changed and we need to take also Statistics, history and eng 102. Is this correct? Next seminar session is February 2 and I will go there for sure again but I just want to know asap :-)

My cousin just got into Suffolk's program for this Fall. She has her Bachelor Degree already, has all of the classes mentioned and got almost a 90 on her TEAS. The TEAS is weighed most heavily I believe, but every single point counts when you have hundreds applying for a handful of spots. Plus, if 2 people have equal points they will choose the one who has more course work completed.

I plan to apply for Fall 2019 and will be in the same situation as her but haven't taken the TEAS yet. I will have taken microbiology and statistics by that point because I am applying to BSN programs as well.

Hi! I just got accepted into nursing program in Suffolk starting in September. I took Eng 101, 102; Stats, History 104, A&P 1 and 2, Psych 101, IND 101 so far. My teas was 82.7. I still need to take microbio 224 and PHL. Just keep taking the rest of prereqs they will count towards your rubric score!

Congrats!!! That's awesome.

What were your grades for those classes if you don't mind me asking?

I looked at their point system and they give you a certain amount of points for an A, B, C and then your GPA which I think will determine entry rather than just completing them. I know the TEAS weighs heavily too though.

I'd really appreciate it! I want to get a feel of where I'm at

Bio 130 - B, Eng 101-B+ and the rest are all A's

Congrats Dashytka10! Which campus are you going to?

Thank you! Ammerman Day
