Stupid question alert--- How do you chart a sub-q injection in the upper right arm?

Published

I guess my question is, you wouldn't say "upper right arm" would you? Isn't there a term or acronym?

Thanks!

I would say ® UE for upper extremity. You may want to wait to see what others say too though!!! :wink2:

RUE (Right Upper Extremity).

I've also seen RUA (right upper arm) and URA (upper right arm) written in the chart.

But if I had any doubt about what to put down, I'd write out "Right upper arm" in full. That way there'd be absolutely no confusion.

I would do RUE or write out right upper extremity..or right upper arm. Some people aren't sure what others abbreviations mean in my facility. (even the well know, very taught ones...ugghh) I actually had another nurse ask me why I gave a sub Q in the left upper ear (I charted K=LUE)...
