Study schedule?

Published

In some review book somewhere, I remember seeing a chart for how much you should be studying to take the NCLEX. For example, if you have xx weeks until your test date, you should study xx number of hours. I can't find this anywhere! Has anyone seen this?

I'm wondering because I just got my ATT. I've been studying all semester and do practice questions every day since school got out. I was hoping to get the test done before I go out of town this summer but I'm not sure if I have enough time. But if I do wait, I'll be stressed on vacation, probably not study as much, and how much would it help me? I just don't know!

I appreciate any input! Thanks so much!

A proposed schedule might be fine for some but not work at all for others. Best to devise your own. You know your drop dead date. Take your material that you intend to cover, and divvy it up into bitesize chunks. Most people study from two to four hours daily. Longer than that tends to get more and more nonproductive. But you know your study habits and how much you can handle in one day. Good luck.

Hi jeyre,

caliotter's absolutely right. You have to find what works for you! Saunders Online has a study schedule based on the scores of your diagnostic test. I made the mistake of following that and another one the first 2 times I attempted NCLEX-RN. Failed both.

Went my own way by just answering questions and passed on the 3rd try. I spent at least an hour a day (sometimes more, but never less) just answering questions on topics I felt I needed to. I happen to retain info best in short, controlled bursts...but I'm not everyone. Some people I went to school with studied 12 hours a day!!!!, which is completely beyond me!! But, again, you have to find what works for you. All the best!
