Studied in London and got a BTEC in health & social care diploma

Hello,

I studied in the UK for 2years and recently got my diploma evaluated by WES. The results came back and it's equivalent to an associate degree here in the USA.

Did anyone take the BTEC in health & social care program, because I want to apply to CGFNS to evaluate & see if I'm eligible to take the nclex.

Welcome to allnurses!

The WES report said your diploma is equivalent to an associate's degree in nursing, or it's equivalent to an associate's degree, academically in general? I don't see the word "nursing" in "health & social care." Did you actually study nursing? In order to be eligible for nursing licensure in any US state, your school transcripts will need to show didactic (classroom) and supervised clinical hours (however many hours the specific state BON requires) in adult medical-surgical, OB, pediatric, and psychiatric nursiing.

No the program was called health & social care but the classes I took there match the curriculum for an associate degree in nursing. I also did clinicals with peds & geriatrics so it might be equivalent. I want to know if someone did this so I don't waste my time paying for the evaluation

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Unless your transcripts show as mentioned above clinical and theory hours in those hours you will not meet eligibility with a state to sit NCLEX. It is not just a case of applying to CGFNS you need to also apply to a state.

Did you have theory in Paeds and did you do obstetrics?

I live in NY state so that's where I'm applying too. If CGFNS contacts the school in the UK, they can get the clinical hours because that's not listed on the transcripts. ITs part of the class listed but the New York board of nursing should be able to get that info. Also, I'm in an LPN program so I do have clinical hours as well. Since I plan on sending all my college info, wouldn't this LPN clinical hours count for something ?

NY require CVS which means CGFNS apply for all relevant documents and your transcripts must show the hours. CGFNS will not ask for the info. Once CGFNS obtains all relevant documents they forward to the state BON and they will make a decision based on the information supplied. If doing LPN in the US then you can't send anything to the BON until you graduate and you need to ask them if clinical hours count towards your other application

I already know the whole CGFNS process. I just want to know if anyone sent their BTEC diploma and got accepted to take the nclex in NY or anywhere else
