While I am not a nurse, I hope this helps:
Nurses with disabilities may have had experiences in which they themselves were patients. Having experiences being a patient may help nurses better empathize and put themselves in their patients' position.
A nurse with a disability can demonstrate that he or she is healthy and able to serve his or her patients by following protocol and delivering patient-centered care with or without the use of any accommodation.

This.
I have had the pleasure to continue to work while having a disability; I have also had the pleasure to learn from nurses side by sure in the trenches with disabilities; their knowledge did not detract or diminish from their disability.

How can a nurse care for their patient holistically if he/she with his/her own self has a disability? How is he/she also demonstrate to his/her patient a what do we call a healthy person if he/she, a role model of it has a problem?
