Student RN wanted info about Texas

I'm a nursing student that will be graduating in May and am seriously considering moving to Texas from SD.....I was thinking the Round Rock area, but would like some advice from some fellow Texans on where a good place for a new grad would be! Thanks so much!

If you have your heart set on Round Rock, then I'm sure you will find a position that fits your needs.

I don't know anyone who has ever worked in Round Rock specifically so maybe someone else can chime in with more info.

What I will say about the area is that Austin itself is notorious for low wages and high housing costs. But the nurses I know who live and work there absolutely love Austin and wouldn't live anywhere else.

Round Rock is awesome.... I know I am from Tx...did an assignment in Austin but the traffic there stinks... cost of living is high but the hospitals have great reputations.... depending on what area of the hospital you want to work I would love to give you a few tips if you send me your department you want to work with [email protected]

Well, I can't help you as far as nursing goes, but I grew up in Round Rock/Leander and LOVED it!! It's a gorgeous area and Austin is lots 'o fun. Plus, good schools.

Round Rock is a great area...Alot of my family lives there because they can afford to live in Austin..

I am glad I found this post. I graduate with my ADN in May 2008. I realize that sounds like a long time but it sneaks up on you. I would like to relocate to the Round Rock area and would love any tips anyone would like to share. I currently live in Charlotte, NC and the taxes and cost of living are high here - but I would like to be in a smaller community. Thanks for any help anyove can give.
