SMU's 2016 program

Anyone else also applied to SMU 2016 program? I'm just now anxiously waiting, of course for the next 2 months or so for a reply!

I applied as well. The email I got stated that our applications will be given to the anesthesia department by 4/10. After that, it will be another 2 to 3 weeks to hear anything. What are your stats like?

My stats aren't very good! I've been out of school for 4 years with my BSN then. Been trying to get into a biochemistry course but they're requiring me to retake all the chemistry courses. GPA 3.4. Not CCRN certified but plan to take it soon. Just applied to get my foot in the door and begin the application processes. What about you?

I'll be apply as well. Just have to take the GREs and maybe a physics course. I haven't had my transcripts evaluated but considering attending the informational sessions.

Just received my rejection letter today. Kind of expected as I only have 2 years of ICU experience. Best of luck to whomever is still awaiting a reply!

Sorry to hear that. I am a new grad RN from SMU, and hoping to apply to the CRNA program in a couple of years. I talked to some SRNAs there, and some got in with 1 year ICU experience. They told me they attributed it to having CCRN, CMC, and a ton of leadership roles in the workplace. I had an admission counseling meeting and they told me that CCRN will definitely give you leverage. One thing they recommended me to do was develop a relationship with the CRNA faculty and the school. For example, going to periodical counseling meetings with the same counselor, and that counselor can state how long you guys have been working together for you to reach that goal. Another way is by going to the DIVERSITY CRNA seminar, which they hold every year. They're holding one this June 13 and 14th if you want, and it may increase your chances for next year. I'm hoping to apply in 3 or 4 years since I just got my first job, and it will take me awhile to get an ICU postion and increase my cumulative 3.1 gpa -_-. Good luck with your future applications. It's not about if you would get there, but when you will get there :)

They are rejecting people already? The deadline isn't until fall isn't it

I think the OP is referring to St Mary's University, not Samuel Merritt.

But you're right, students for Fall 2015 were notified of their acceptance / rejection back in February for Samuel Merritt University. The Fall 2016 application will be due in November.

Ah thanks for the heads up.

I received my rejection letter. Has any person received a acceptance letter? What is the Diversity seminar, and how do you attend??
